I didn't know right away, someone had to tell me at the office.

Engineer that works next to me hadn't heard until I told him at 4PM. Not everyone is a news junkie.

I am curious to see how the NRA will use this incident to support guns.

The theater was a no guns zone.

Obviously if guns aren't allowed there this really did not occur. But, since it really did happen, we're going to need people with guns to stop the other people with guns. NRA WIN!!!

Ignorance is a pretty lame excuse, considering how huge the news was first thing this morning. You're free to not think he's an idiot.

This wasn't huge news for me. 50 people get shot in Chicago and it's not even a headline. But for some reason, 50 people get shot in Colorado and the president is talking about it.

Hell, our flag is at half-staff. If there's a tragedy in all this, that's it. Your posts are quite telling on what - and more importantly whom - is important to the American people.

but but but...how could this happen in a gun free zone?

The media doesn't find black people shooting other black people news worthy. White shooting black, or white shooting white then it's a big deal, but 50 murderers in Chicago just last week alone...no big deal according to MSNBC.

Guns were more freely available 50 years ago and these types of shootings didn't occur with anywhere near the frequency that they do today. Society has changed for the worse.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

I'm not a news junkie either. Not even close.

The truly sad thing is ..

If the shooter had been Arab, it would be linked to some terrorism BS. If he'd been black, the shooter would be labeled a thug. But he's white, so people automatically assume he just has a mental illness.

The way media paints events like this is gross.

Something is seriously wrong in society today. When I was a kid and got in a fight, the thought never entered my mind to go home and get my 22 or shotgun and go shoot my opponent. As an adult in business, if someone screwed me out of money, I would never contemplate shooting them. Maybe break an arm or leg, but shooting, no. Guns used to be easier to get and these crimes rarely occurred. It's not the guns, it's the mindset of those using them. Life has no value to many people today, and it sadly starts at a very early age. Take a look at the gang violence. Sure, drugs play some role in it, but IMHO, the people who do the drive by's, the Columbines, the shooting today etc, are fvcked in the head. Why? What has happened to people in the past few decades? What has happened to our youth?

He was of course unaware of the news when he wrote it. He later deleted it when he discovered what happened.

I'm sorry but that's no excuse. Dude should be checking media and news before he does his job each day. He speaks for a major organization.

Where are the cult killers, like the Manson family? The Weathermen? The SLA? You know, Obama's mentors? Edited by ☼

No I didn't.

I thought he edited his comment that you responded to....

And then made a post saying does the edit help...Why would he say in the same post "I was talking to Spooky. ETA: Does the edit help" referring to that post. There would be no point in saying "does the edit help" because "I was talking to Spooky" would have worked.

IDK I think I am over-analyzing it.
