Do you know what the rules are for owning this gun? I thought all guns had to be kept in a locked cabinet, separate from ammunition.

In the US there are no rules regarding this gun. You may buy it online and ship it to your door.

This is legal in the UK with a permit:

CA005-1851NavyLondon.jpg

(It happens to be the London Model btw - Colt ran a shop there around the crimean war era)

That would spoil my outline in the disco

Its probably deactivated.. I have the experience of getting a firearms certificate in the UK and it was 6 months of hard work for a single shot 22LR target rifle

It is a LOT harder now unless you can show you have access to suitable land, you are pure as the driven snow and have $10k worth of security systems and dedicated alarm lines direct to the police HQ etc etc etc etc etc

Oh right. Well its ammunition is a lead ball (unregulated) and black powder (regulated in the UK, I think you need a separate permit to have it there)

So in other words it would work better to use it to pistol whip someone? Looks like it would hurt!

Well its pretty reliable with a few modifications. On mine the caps can jam the action which is caused by the hammer pulling them off. I added a weld on the hammer that covers up the notch and it fixed it.

Easier to buy a .243 deer rifle and go shooting in Scotland or Dartmoor

Shotguns are much easier to acquire on a separate permit

The restrictions are around "where" you are going to shoot it and "how" you will keep it safely stored from theft by criminals

If you say you want to shoot it at a gun club, you must do a period of probation at the club to prove you are serious

ALL these requirements would be seen as wildly unreasonable in the US which is overly cautious in so many other things but 'anything goes' with gun regulations

I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy.

The local police generally answer to themselves and whoever pays them off.
