Do I need to file for AP if I don't intend to leave the country

Hi All,

Just filling out all of the AOS paperwork and am wondering if I should file for Advanced Parole with my AOS paperwork. My hubby and I aren't planning any travel out of the country for awhile. I have reviewed the AP documents and it is asking for intended date of travel. I would eventually like to go back to Toronto to see friends but don't have a particular date in mind.

Hoping someone can advise.

You don't have to, but it's free when filing with AOS, so why not? You never know when an emergency could come up that you'd like to travel back home for.

There's really no need to plan a trip to get AP. Make up a date, or put unknown, it really doesn't matter.

For many applications it is currently taking around 8 months to receive the green card if the file is transferred to California, so you may as well apply for the AP, in case something comes up between now and then.
