I make about 32,000 a yr and I am trying to petition my fiance and his two kids but i also have two kids, now my question is : would i need a co- sponsor or can i do my own affadavit with no problem??

Fiance, two children, and two children. Family size of 5. Based on the poverty guidelines for 125% for a family of 5, the income requirement is $33,762. So you need to have assets that are easily converted to cash (investments) totaling 3X the short fall or $5,286. Or you need a co-sponsor.

Good luck,

Dave

Most likely you will need a co-sponsor since that's a total of 4 kids and yourself and husband household of 6 which is an income of about 38,712 for 6 AND for 5 NOT including yourself is 33,762. And whom ever sponsor you has to meet the guideline as while for there household.

To clarify, the co-sponsor would need to provide an amount that would cover your fiancé and his two children, not your entire family.

THANK YOU MUCH!!!! I GUESS I JUST GET A CO- SPONSOR TO BE ON THE SAVE SIDE...

A car is not considered an asset...it loses value with time. Assets will be considered to have properties valued at a certain amount or a savings account with the $5K that you're short in the requirement. But like leftcoast lady said, your cosponsor just need to show proof that he can provide for your fiance and his two children, which will be a household of 3, and the minimum income requirement for that is $23,862.

It's good to be on the safe side and to acknowledge anything that can cause any questioning at the day of the interview. I'm sure everything will work out fine, any questions feel free to ask :star:
