We are going to do my husbands medical on Saturday and we have not been able to get his shot record from Haiti yet so we are going to have to go in and have them all done. Can anyone tell me which ones they will give? I see different posts saying different things and when I check the USCIS site, it lists so many. He has had chicken pox and of course it's not flu season. I am just trying to get an estimate on how much we are going to need to spend on the vaccination portion.

Any advice?

If he is over 21 he should only be expecting tetnus, and the MMR blend. I believe you can get a blood test to see if he is immune to all of those, instead of getting duplicate vaccinations -I opted for that at another clinic before going for my appointment. I had to get the tetnus because it had been over 10 years. No flu shot...I hope this helps! It all depends on your age.

1) The medical usually includes the tuberculosis and syphillis test at no extra cost.

2) The required vaccines are: Tdap (Tetanus, Diptheria, pertussis), MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis A/B and Varicella. During the flu season, the surgeon might require the vaccine.

3) There's a blood test (at an extra cost) that shows which vaccines are missing.

4) I know that DC and Montgomery County provide free immunizations; I'm not sure about PG county.

They made me get the flu shot. I'm not sure if it was that, or if it was the homeless people in the clinic (for some reason I thought a downtown walk-in clinic would be a good idea because it was close to our condo...) but wow, I've never been that sick before in my life. 102 fever...

The flu shot is only required from 1st October to 31st March. I did my medical in mid-April and so did not have to have it.

My husband just did his medical this week and no flu shot was required. Hypnos is correct in his dates; however there were no shots "included" with the medical exam. We had to pay for each vaccination. It was recommended by other VJ'ers (wisely) to call around to see what different clinics charged for the exam and shots. I found a lot of variation and even got hung up on when I didn't book the appointment right away!

I just had my med exam, and its not flu season, he definitely wont get that one..

He wont recieve the MMR, unless he has too, its usually the tetnus, TB, and hep B, and chickenpox vaccines!!

The estimate would be around 800, however there own prices... my best advice is to take around that amount, just incase, but also be firm and make sure you see the prices :) so you don't get ripped off....

Woah, $800 that is one of the most expensive estimates I have seen.

Mine cost $200 in Denver and that included: Tdap, Influenza, blood test for any communicable diseases and the TB skin test-- the x-ray was an additional $35 but I tested negative.

Im in virginia, and at the time me and my husband went through to the CS, i got quotes prior to the visit... however we had to choose something close, that of my hubby being military, no time to look round :/

We forked out 790, expensive!!! But at the end of the day, we were just both glad its over and done with.... cannot stand sick zones lol

I got ripped off!!! So never go to a CS here in VA, lol.... you will leave with a very light wallet lol

There is no "usual" shots given. The shots given are dependent on the person's medical history. There are various ways to determine which of the shots the person has already had, and that decision will be made by the CS. Sometimes they want records, sometimes they know the country and know what vaccines the person had. Or, they can do the blood titre test. Having no records doesn't necessarily mean all the shots will be needed. You should just go to the first appointment and see what the CS says. There are usually two appointments. In between the two, you can get any shots you are missing if the CS's prices are too expensive. My husband went to the country health clinic for a free shot and brought the proof to the CS for the final appointment.

AOS for my husband
