ds-230 forms expires on 6/30/2012...so can I still use it or wait for it to be updated? my package 3 should be ready to send out this week

The form does not expire, you can use it. The expiration date is the expiration of the comment period to the Office of Management and Budget.

Have you been calling department of state to ask if your packet 3 has been logged? Just FYI you don't have to wait for it to physically arrive in the mail before you send it out; you just need to know that it's logged.

Yeah, I called them on Monday and the lady said the only update she can see about my file is that it has been transferred to Montreal physically last week( on the 27th), no further actions have been taken. I will call again this Friday to see if they have done anything yet.

It took about 2 weeks for Montreal to log my case into the system. Good news is, once it's logged, they'll likely tell you packet 3 has been sent out too! Seems to be sent out right after the logging of the case.
