I was wondering if anyone was willing to share or refer me to another feed where there are couples who did not need an aos interview? I am wondering I this happens often?

Lots of VJ couples have not had interviews for adjustment of status. There is no single thread or forum on VJ for that circumstance.

If you have questions, just ask away. There is no "formula" for avoiding an interview.

I had read somewhere that people don't have to go through the interview and was wondering why. I was told to expect one, so was confused when I heard some didn't.

People who enter with an immigrant visa don't have a green card interview in the US. They're interviewed at a US consulate abroad when they apply for the visa. They get their green card automatically soon after arriving in the US.

People who apply for a green card while in the US by submitting an adjustment of status application are usually interviewed. An exception is made for people who entered with a non-immigrant visa that allows for immigrant intent, and who were interviewed at a US consulate abroad concerning their eligibility to immigrate, such as people who receive a K1 visa. Some K1 green card applicants are still selected for an interview. My wife entered with a K1, and we had an interview.

If the immigrant in your case entered the US with a non-immigrant visa other than a K1, and is now applying for a green card based on marriage to a US citizen, then you will definitely have an interview. For example, someone who entered with a visitors visa would have been interviewed at a US consulate, but that interview would not have been concerned with their eligibility to immigrate, so a green card interview would be required. If there aren't any issues in your case then the interview is usually pretty routine, and takes only 15 or 20 minutes.

As we don't what visa you entered on, it's hard to give you an accurate answer. JimVaPhuong is right.

My husband and I did the K1 and we were selected for an interview. Our case was not flagged or special in any way. It's just random. Just gather evidence as if you were going to have an interview and should you end up having one, you will be ready.

US citizen since April 2016

ROC completed April 2014

AOS from K1 completed February 2012
