how that p90x worked out for you?? did you see a major difference like they are claiming??

Dropped 50 pounds of fat in 90 days. Picked up muscle mass.

I kept strict on food intake. Protein around 50% of intake.

This last year (stressing over visa for wife, and 10 trips overseas to visit her) has been tough.

Need to refocus on the program and do another. Not done yet but in progress.

Right after my wife moved here from Tokyo, we moved to an apartment complex that has a high number of international tenants. One of the local colleges offers an ESL class right in one of the apartment buildings! So she had a chance to make many international friends.

Unfortunately I'm not comfortable with her taking the bus in LA. So getting a car really opens up a lot of doors, so to speak.

Yagisama what type of animal do you have as your avatar? A goat?

Sooo I just moved to US a week ago and I am bored! No friend & no job. I have SS#, but am still looking for a car. I know friends and jobs won't always come easy and I am expecting to have some very boring months before things start to roll.

In this situation....I have a question for you. What did you guys do when you first came to the US? When you don't have a car or a job? I mean I cannot look for a car online for 24 hours. Plus I can only go look at them when my husband is around (weekend only).

My plan so far is wake up early and just work out like a crazy person at home and around the house. The nearest gym is not in a walkable distance.

You should still be getting over jet lag and lack of sleep from bedtime activities whistling.gif

yes, I did join some volunteer groups on meetup.com. I will start attending their events once I got a car! Unfortunately, we have no bus system in LA. Not the one that's safe anyway...

LA as in Los Angeles or Louisiana? There's a robust and safe bus system in Los Angeles and most of her suburbs.

yea I don't think pug can survive So-Cal weather as well. My friend keeps AC on all the time for his pug...

Raised a pair of Pugs and a liter in an un air-conditioned house in Rancho Cucamonga, a suburb of LA. Ugly Dogs but not unreasonably higher maintenance.

I'm always amazed at over protectiveness of soem USC on this forum.

Good luck to all.

PS: Oh yea, welcome to America.

I live in China town. The common language here is Chinese and Spanish. English I learned so hard is semi useless here. It's almost been 2 weeks since I came here. Still struggling with unlocking iphone and getting a used car.

I have chihuahua pomeranian mix and miniature pinscher.

Sharing my experience....

When I first got here June 2009, I was busy preparing for my wedding and then after that doing my AOS. By end of August 2009, while waiting for AOS to get approved, I prepared for my learner's permit and had it before I got my EAD. I started looking for job but not aggressively. I spent most of my time on redesigning our house and learning to drive in the afternoon until I got my green card. I also made myself busy on getting coupons to help us budgetting our grocery expenses. After I got my green card, I started to seriously find work but was always unlucky. My husband got me a dog from the shelter which a great helped for my adjustment. And I love her dearly. Got a part-time by March 2010 and driver's license by May 2010. Started real job in October 2010, also moved to different state. So, it took me a year from my eligibility to work, to get job in my field and be back to my career routine.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I think it's nice to have a bit of chores. Only thing I kind of need to do now is taking my in-laws' dogs. Yes, I live with my parents in law and they do everything for me!!!! Which is very nice if I'm busy working, but I'm not. Too bad I cannot enjoy this privilege, and just feeling frustrated everyday...

Indeed it is a picture of a goat. A mountain goat to be precise. Actually Yagi means goat in Japanese! :energy:

Isn't that the truth! We live west of Koreatown and in that neighborhood there are more Korean signs than English! In fact our apartment complex has signs in English and Korean! I know my wife was thinking, is this the US or Korea?!?

Ok buddy. Have you ever eaten goat meat? It is a lean meat and is very tasty if cooked correctly
