Is there any new changes with landowning laws in Vietnam? Can greencard holder own land in Vietnam, yet?

6/8/2015 - Removal of conditions - sent off packet to VSC

Its all just long term leases anyway..

I want to do that. It is better than nothing. Maybe, they will change the laws in future.

did the law change recently that usc can own land over there? either way i would advise against it. you can't really trust anything anyone say over there, and they can screw you easily. our family did own a couple of pieces of land in vietnam (it was under relative's name), and let's just say the experience was unpleasant.

edit: technically we still own land over there i guess. my wife's house is currently under her name in the red book. gotta tell her to look into that before she gains USC.

An LPR is still a citizen of his or her country. Your LPR wife is still a Vietnamese citizen.

A Viet Kieu with foreign citizenship can own land in Vietnam. It costs more. It's taxed more. And there are restrictions on Viet Kieu owning land in Vietnam.

Yeah, i heard that foreigners have to pay higher taxes too.
