YAY!! we finally got my wife's visa and we were planning on crossing the border through cd Juarez - El Paso,Tx. can anyone tell me if she needs to cross on foot? can we just cross on my car?

I was told she needed to cross on foot because she needed to get the visa stamped and she needed to turn in the closed packet.. but through CD Juarez, I don't see how she can walk across the bridge.. is there a way?

USCIS:

Congratulations, si man! :)

Did you receive instructions on which port to enter through?

If not, call one or more of these ports to ask:

915 730-7000 = general information line for ELP POE

915 872-5700 = Paso del Norte

915 872-3424 = Ysleta

These could all be a zoo, depending on the time and the day when you plan to cross. If you call, speak with the shift supervisor, and arrange a mutually good time, CBP could have the appropriate personnel waiting for you, and they'd think better of you for your courtesy to them in respecting their time and other commitments.

If you have a choice of ports, consider driving down the road a bit to Fabens: (915) 764-2359. You'd definitely need to call ahead to this very small port. If you don't blindside them by showing up unannounced, it could be the highlight of some CBP agent's week to process a K-1 package.

Wherever you enter, you'd go to secondary inspection for the processing. If you go by car, they'd direct you where to pull over or park before you go into the port office. Of course, at Paso del Norte and perhaps also Ysleta, you'd be amidst searches of other travelers' vehicles -- agents rooting through stuff by hand, sniff-drugging dogs all around, etc.

A good time to call the ports may be in the evening or at night. Fabens is open from 8a to 10p, I think, but the others are probably 24-hour. Agents generally have more time to talk with you during non-rush periods.

Please write back with what you're told, si man.
