I wonder how many cases there are like this each year. I hadn't heard about the one from Boston. Thanks for posting the link. I think in these cases there is always two sides of the story and we don't get to hear the Egyptian side of it. In the case I posted the father kidnapped the son taking advantage of the mother's willingness to share custody. In the case you posted it was the Egyptian mother who took her two boys to Egypt. I wonder if there is anything that can be done by our two governments to negotiate a treaty about parental custody in the near future.

a ton of these happen every year..much more common for women in europe.. I have a friend who hasnt seen her kids in 5 years and they are in Tunisia.. and hes actually here in town LOL. He dropped them off with his parents and guess what? there is not ####### she can do because she said they could go visit and gave them Tunisian passports. I also know a moroccan woman who is an american resident with 3 kids stuck in Algeria that she hasnt seen in 3 years..none of this is shocking. Its only shocking to you because you are paying attention Olivia.. i have been seeing this nonsense for the last 10 years and one of my closest friends has 2 kids trapped in Tunisia..

In the case of the Boston father, he was granted custody of his boys so I'm thinking perhaps the ex wife didn't care for that and took it upon herself to guarantee custody in Egypt. I don't know why people are so selfish and don't think of what's best for the children. They only care about what's best for themselves. :( But you're right, we don't hear both sides of the story. I knew of one case where an Egyptian father took his small daughter to Egypt but left his sons here with their mother. That was puzzling to me.

My daughters father just recently offered to take her to Morocco.. I was like OH HELL NO..Ill take her when shes 18 but I sure as hell would not hand a kid over to an ex and let them take them to a non hague convention country. I am not that retarded. Id never see her again. He'd drop her off with HAJJA in some little town and Id spend the next 11 years crying pleading and travelling to see a kid I could not find and the US State dept would not do ####### to help me.

His name is on her birth certificate and if a mena ex all of the sudden takes an interest and wants to take your kid back home, I sure as hell would not agree to it..I want to raise my daughter, not lose my kid

My kids went to Yemen, without me, 3 times. This was after our divorce. I don't consider myself retarded. I do, however, trust that my ex is a decent human being who wouldn't do that to his kids or me.

thats because he was a decent human being.. but unfortunately sometimes you dont figure that out until they are ..um .. gone..

It sounds like your ex is a good guy.. I sure as hell dont trust some of the dads I have met after they get pissy after a breakup.

secondly.. you werent divorced either LOL..so

hey wait a minute.. didnt you let them go after you were divorced as well?

Yes, that's her. :)

Yep, we were divorced when they went. We weren't right for each other but we made an agreement about how the boys would be raised and we stuck to that agreement. I agreed that they would go to Yemen to meet and get to know their family there and I wasn't going to go against my word just because we divorced. I saw Not Without My Daughter and everything and they still went lol.

We can't only blame the guys for getting pissy after a divorce. They shouldn't take their kids away from their mothers regardless but some women do get awful nasty during and after a divorce. They become nasty regarding their former spouses' culture and religion. That's not right. Do they not realize that they once loved this man and had no issue with his culture or religion?

In your case, I would not let her go. If for no other reason than he's almost a stranger to your daughter. You could take her there yourself even when she's young to get to know her heritage. I probably wouldn't take her to meet her relatives until she's older.

I think the ultimate form of revenge is to sell the kids into slavery, and walk away.

grrrr.

This type of thing is always sad. I've been following this story on FB for some time now. I hope this man is able to be reunited with his boys for good one day soon.

Both very sad stories, I couldn't even imagine...:(

This is another story about an Algerian man that came on a lottery visa and married an American girl after arriving to the states. He took his daughter to Algeria (approved by the mother) to visit with his family and he came back to the US without her.
