I am in Juarez right now and it does not seem dangerous really; however, you may want to find out if the hotel you are staying at provides free transportation to the airport, most of them do here.

If they do, you can just call them from the airport and they'll pick you up there.

I am in Juarez right now. The taxis at the airport are safe and the consulate area is very safe. You pay for the taxi inside the airport based on what zone you are going to so you don't have to worry about haggling with the driver. I am staying at the Holiday Inn in Juarez with my fiance and I can see the Hotel Ibis and the Consulate from our window. Everything is within walking distance. Last month there were only 40 drug related deaths in Juarez and there hasn't been any killings in the last 3 days.

Several items I would note is that there are a lot of places to eat within walking distance but they are expensive.

Do not be fooled by the people outside the Consulate and Medical places. They wear badges and look official but they will only take your money and documents.
