Hey everyone. Does anyone know when does the six months start before you have to leave for the United States? My husband did his interview today in Jamaica but want to wait until December 31st to migrate because of his job. Is it possible? Thanks guys!

From the day your visa is approved. It will have a date on the visa to show how long it is valid.

No problem, your hubby can come to the US and leave the very next day. His GC will be activated, he doesn't have to wait six months from the date of the visa. Once he has ativated his GC, he can stay in Jamaica until 12/31 without any problems. He can travel back and forth to visit after he has activated his GC at POE. He will get a stamp in his passport that he can use until actual GC comes in the mail.

This information only pertains to a CR1 or 1R visa.
