My ceremony letter was waiting when I got home today.......March 25th at Morrow GA, wherever that is!

Old and Grumpy....But an American Citizen!!!

Finally they scheduled me for the Oath Ceremony!!

It took forever, don't know exactly when, I hope I'll receive the letter soon.

Moving out of state (and to a different service center) while in the process, certainly increases the time.

When the woman I called told me the date and place.....I asked the same question. The only explanation she could give me was that people coming from further away get to get their oath at the Atlanta office.

Who cares....I'm nearly there!!!

On the form they sent me, it asks if I've been away since the interview....I've been away 29 days, I hope it doesn't affect the oath ceremony in any way (Extra admin to be done!!?? )

Not to worry! unless you went to North Korea or Cuba, travel abroad since the interview is not a problem. You will just be asked where you went.

I got the Oath letter -Oath ceremony on March 27 in Houston, TX at 7 am.

Wow, the exact same day when I got my Visa to come to the US 6 years ago -03/27/2007!!!

Hi Dalia, The reason it took so long was because I was going away for a month, the week after my interview. I asked my interviewing officer if I could have a same-day ceremony, as there was one on that afternoon.

He told me no, as the waiting list was full until the next week. As I was going away Feb 4th for a month, He wrote a note on my papers to schedule me after March 6th.

Best of luck for your interview, but I'm sure you won't need it. The officers at Atlanta are very nice......you'll sail through it!:yes:

I went for my Oath ceremony yesterday in Houston. Took 4 hours and a long line to get in (advice, take a sweater as it could be cold in the morning).

Hi everyone,

I am finally a US citizen! We had a long delay as my husband had been in the hospital and as a result we postponed our ceremony until April 25 so he could be with me. The ceremony was held in Roanoke, VA and was very enjoyable. It feels good to be at the end of the process, and although my journey was not as long as some, it still felt long!!! smile.png

I wanted to come back onto this thread to take this opportunity to thank Visa Journey for all of the information, help, advice that it has provided. A big thank you to all of the posters, as without them we would not share the vast amount of knowledge needed to get through the process. We have managed to do every part of this process just from the information we received from this site, and in doing so have saved thousands of dollars!! We are both truly grateful to everyone on Visa Journey.

Sending best wishes to everyone still enduring any part of the legal immigration process - stick with it, it's all worth it in the end!!!!

Yes, it was a long journey, but I shouldn't really complain as there were people there who had waited 8-10 years. Not exactly sure of their circumstances, but I think they came on either assylum or refugee status.
