Grassy,,, at the moment I'm just happy that someone somewhere had picked up my folder....I was wondering if it had fallen behind a desk never to be seen again...or filed in a wrong place....or even used as toilet paper....

I'm just starting to feel like a N400 applicant again!!!

Just received a letter confirming that my oath ceremony will take place on 01/08/2013. Can't wait!

Quick questions:

-for those of you who have already gone through the ceremony, do you know if guests are allowed to attend? and if so, is there a maximum number? for reference, I will be having my ceremony in Washington, DC.

-between my interview and the ceremony, I will have traveled abroad (going to see my parents for the holiday season), and I was just cited for a speeding ticket. Do you know if either of these changes are likely to pose an issue?

Thanks in advance for the help!

You are allowed to bring guests. Limit is another issue. Assumption is, it will be a spouse and/or children. If you are planning to bring in dozens, then there might be certain rules. You are beyond the issues of citations and travel declaration. Since its an Oath, and not an interview, who would you have to justify it to?

I know you can bring your immediate family along with you to the oath ceremony. But I don't know whether the rest of the things you asked about may affect you or not. Congratulations on your interview

The form N-445, which they send informing you of when the naturalization ceremony will take place, includes a list of questions at the back that you have to answer, yes or no.

You have to disclose both, the travel and the speeding ticket. What I have read in other posts/forums is that it is better to come to oath ceremony with the speeding ticket payment record.

As for the travel, I have read both that it may or may not cause any trouble depending on whether the travel after the interview exceeds your minimum required physical presence in the US.

However, reading the conditions described at USCIS website (as pasted below) suggests that we should only be concerned about meeting the minimum required physical presence at the time of application. (source: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.eb1d4c2a3e5b9ac89243c6a7543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=399faf4c0adb4210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=399faf4c0adb4210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD)

"Physical Presence

Applicants are required to show that they were:

Physically present in the U.S. for thirty months within the five year period before applying, or (see legal basis)

Physically present in the U.S. for eighteen months within the three year period before applying in the case of qualified spouses of U.S. citizens (see legal basis) "

MamaSue, you will see all your documents filed with USCIS during interview. Mine was about 10 cm thick. It is such a big chunk folder that could not be used as toilet paper...
