Hello All,

Congrats Pathan and all of you!You deserve happiness after all this time waiting. I am getting impatient as I am approaching the 45 day mark. I've read somewhere about a person with an oath ceremony on December 19, 2012 in Norfolk, VA which is my field office too. I was put in oath scheduling que on Nov 2 and was wondering if someone can tell me the number to call customer services and options you used to get to a rep because that recording is driving me crazy. I would like to see if there is any ceremony on that date for sure. Thanks a lot

Woo-hoo, I passed my interview on 12/05/12. The oath ceremony was scheduled a week from the interview (12/11/12). Updating the table here and will post my experience below.

Sorry, kept forgetting to post about my interview on 12/05/12. It took place downtown Chicago. My appointment was scheduled for very early morning, 7:45 am; however, it allowed me to take advantage of the early bird parking rates. Parking downtown Chicago is otherwise ridiculously expensive ($20 for two hours).

Arrived on time, was one of the first ones to check-in. When I was invited for the interview, my husband asked to go in with me, but was denied. My interviewer was an older gentleman from India and at times it was difficult to understand his accent. It seemed he had all of my previously submitted cases (I-485, I-130, I-751, N-400) together, as the stack was extremely high. I answered first six civics questions correctly, so he stopped there. The questions were: 1. For how many years do we elect the president (4 years); 2. Who is the current speaker (John Boehner); 3. Who lived on the continent before the Europeans arrived (Native Americans); 4. Name one of the longest U.S. rivers (Mississippi); 5. When was the declaration of Independence adopted (4 July 1776); 6. What do we call the first 10 amendments to the Constitution (the Bill of Rights).

I was asked to write: "Lincoln was the president during the Civil War." And was asked to read: "When do we celebrate the Independence Day?"

The officer asked for our joint bank statements, which I did not have. My application contained a letter written by the bank about the status of our joint accounts; however, he still really wanted the statements. Sorry, did not have them. We moved on. I did have three years worth of apt lease and health and car insurance documents, but he did not want them. He did review the marriage certificate, of which I already submitted two officially certified copies in my previous applications.

He asked for three years of taxes (I had four years worth with me). He took out, for some reason, the original W-2s from all of those years. Odd. Also wanted to take the college loan tax statement, but I asked him to make a copy instead as it was my only original. He did.

That was it. Boring and otherwise uneventful. I was super prepared and had a huge folder with tons of paperwork, but most of it I did not use. The good thing, my naturalization ceremony was scheduled for less than a week later - 12/11/12 at the federal building downtown. This was a pleasant surprise after a three-month wait for the interview.

Good luck to all!

Finally, Alhamdulillah, that service request did pay off. I received a txt stating that I have been scheduled for oath. Now, the wait begins to receive that information.

Yay!!! I am so glad to read that finally your tiresome and agonizing journey is about to come to an end. Expect a letter in a weeks time. You should be done before mid-Jan.

alterego, I called USCIS and got to talk to tie2 officer . They didn't put in SR because it should be pass 120 days ( 2 weeks ago they said 90 days ) since the interview date . On my question about 5 months processing time and my application being passed that time they answered that it applies to from filing date to interview date , not oath scheduling . Ohh well . I'll just wait .

hi can someone please tell me how do i get my marriage certificate certified just by notarizing it or something else? thank you.

I would like to know the answer to this post too. Also, I am surprised they would ask for a certified copy as we are supposed to take the original for the interview. I was simply going to take a copy with the original. Not sure, if certified copy is mandatory.

Thank you KY Derby, flying_tiger, and Pathan for your well wishes. Since Philly has twice a week multiple oath ceremonies, therefore I am expecting to be done either before Christmas or right after that. Will keep you all posted.

I guess, I was lucky that my case had been adjudicated for a while, and therefore The rep was able to open up an SR. I think next time you should ask about the following:

1- has all the name and background check process completed?

2- is the supervisor approval done on your case? If not, then is it assigned?

3- has it been finally reviewed and adjudicated?

You may not be able to get all of your answers but at least this way you have a general sense as what the hold up is about. if all of above is done, then maybe your case is just pending oath scheduling. Did the interview officer tell you anything about oath frequencies in your district?

alterego, yes I asked if my case went through final reviews or not . The last time I called the officer said that my case is now finished with all reviews , also senator confirmed that my case has been granted final approval . But when I called yesterday I heard completely different story. My case is still under review . I called court where all naturalization ceremonies take place in my district , they hold narulalization ceremonies once a month . Next ceremony is on January 11th . ( there were 3 ceremonies since I had interview ) .. I hope I hear something from them soon .

I sincerely wish that you are scheduled for the Jan 11th ceremony. Typically, they send the notice 1-2 weeks ahead of the ceremony.

Btw, even in my case after 2 or 3 officers that I spoke to over the phone had confirmed me that the case had been approved, I spoke to an officer once who said that nothing had been done on my file at all after the interview.

It is quite bizarre as how inconsistent USCIS support is. I would say, call back in about 2/3 days and hopefully you will be able to find some help that makes sense.
