Please update status to U.S. Citizen

We have completed the Process and I am happy to say Goodbye USCIS

On another note: I just checked our status online and it still says testing and interview....we have Naturalization in hand. Go figure USCIS is the last to know and or update the online system.

Naturalization

7/14 Mailed Packet

7/19 NOA

8/14 Biometrics

8/17 In line for Interview

Congratulations!

Btw, did you get your oath letter at the conclusion of the interview? Or was it sent to you in mail later? If later, then how long after the interview did you get one?

Just checking in to see how everyone is doing.....Congrats to all who have passed interviews and/or have finished their journey. To others waiting, may things move quickly for you.

As for us, we did pass our interview on 10/31 ( changed from 30th due to Hurricane Sandy) and got a notice from USCIS saying we were placed in the que on November 2nd for the oath ceremony, however, we haven't heard anything else since. I know a couple other people in the area that are also waiting for the oath ceremony, so not sure what the hold up is on that down here in South Eastern, VA.

The notification said we should hear something within 45 days.......so about two more weeks to go before we inquire......maybe we will here something before then.

Hi there,

I passed my interview in Norfolk VA on October 5. I've heard nothing since and when I called after 45 days was told that the USCIS website was not correct, and in fact I had to wait 90 days before they will accept an inquiry!

This whole process has been frustrating from start to finish with the inequities in the system. It does seem unfair that you can get a totally different service from different offices (those that have oath ceremonies on the same day), while others just wait and wait and wait. Oh well, nothing new I suppose and I am just grateful to be at the end of this dreadful process, just venting!! Thanks for listening :) :)

Congratulations to those that are now citizens and good luck to those still awaiting interviews - one thing's for sure, we'll all be citizens in 2013!

My interview was at 8:45am and was called at 9am. Officer was very nice. Gave me the test first, then went through my application. I passed and he approved me for citizenship. Asked if I wanted to take Oath on Friday, 2 days away! I said yes! Whole interview took 15 minutes. He said that they all dream of cases like mine, easy and no issues. Whole process was a pleasure! I will become a US citizen on Friday. Best Wishes to those following me!

Where are the Interview letters for N-400 generated? Local office or NBC? Secondly, once notified of "scheduled for Interview", how soon should I expect the letter(That is, if the letter is generated when I get the notification)?

I was told by an agent at the Atlanta DO, that the interviews are scheduled, and letters are sent originating from NBC in Missouri. Once Missouri does that, they forward the file to the district office.

In our case, the interview letters came from the Philadelphia DO. We received the letters after about 7-8 days of change of the online status.

I checked this morning too...It says Atlanta is processing from mid-May now.... so we'll be due in Feb..which is pretty bad. as we're away from Feb 3rd to March 6th!!

If the letter comes while we're away, I might miss the interview! :help:

As I filed July 3rd, I was hoping the citizenship thing would be a dim and distant memory by then!!! :bonk:

Oh well....Infopass nearer the date, I think!! (just don't trust the phone no-help line!!)

Old and Grumpy....But an American Citizen!!!

Wow.....they said to wait 90 days before inquiry?????.....if we don't get our letter, we will still try the 45 day mark, as the website says, and see if we get the same information......

Please post as soon as you get your letter and we will do the same so we can give each other hope.....I know three other people in the area waiting for oath ceremony that interviewed in Norfolk.

I agree....some time in 2013, we will all be citizens....lol.

I had my Oath ceremony in Chicago this morning. Please update my status to US Citizen! Thank you for this very informative and supportive forum. It took 5 months and 2 weeks to become a naturalized citizen. The ceremony started at 9am and we were done at 10:30am. There were 139 of us from all over the world. There was a country role call. My son and I were the only 2 Canadians. The ceremony was very moving and profound. We feel so fortunate to be citizens of two great countries! Good Luck and Best Wishes to those behind me in the process!
