They can't take your Canadian passport (or any other country's)... passports belong to the country of origin, so they can't lawfully take them from you.

My status says now that they scheduled me for the Oath ceremony and sent a notice on October 19th. There was no placed inline status, and I did not get any notification e-mails (yes, I subscribed). So, if you are waiting for any type of notice, make sure to check the status online from time to time and do not rely too much on e-mails and text messages.

You're correct about that, however a passport does belong to the country of origin, not the bearer, so the U.S. government cannot take it lawfully. The issuing country can take it back though, if that's what their laws require.

I do not know what I am going to get. I hope it is the oath letter. The N-652 was given to me right after the interview. The online status cannot change anymore; it is on the last bubble. It says that they scheduled me for the oath ceremony on 19th and mailed the notice. I hope your status changes soon for you too. There is simply no pattern to rely on.

Finally, this morning we got a txt message for the wife's case that it has been scheduled for oath. However, mine is still sitting at Testing and Interview state.

So my question now is, what are my options other than waiting...Can we go back to Philly's office once we receive the wife's oath letter to show them - hoping that they will issue me one as well, for the same date?

I am still waiting to even have my interview scheduled. I applied on July 17 and my application has been "in line for interview scheduling" since August 23rd. It is going on the third month now. Long gone are my hopes to be able to vote this year. Chicago office is taking their time and now showing 5.4 months processing time. Maybe they want to give it to us as a Christmas present instead. Chicago seems to be the last city from Phoenix, AZ lockbox to not have been scheduling interviews yet.

had the interview today. nothing fancy. very easy and hassle-free. Have a name change (spelling) pending, so the oath is to follow. She said the courts have been busy, so some-time in early 2013.

Finally....

Well after wondering and waiting, I got my N-445 Notice of Oath Ceremony in the mail today (10/23/12) - nearly a month after my interview (Fairfax, VA office).

Just to recap and also for the admins to update the table:

Interview - 09/27

I got a text message saying my ceremony was in line for scheduling on 10/05

Received the Oath ceremony letter today on 10/23/12

Date of Oath ceremony will be on 11/14/2012 @ 0830 ... location? Well, it's a cool one - it's gonna be at the Women In Military Service for America Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery

I think this is going to be a special one (I understand its a rare one?). I was kinda bummed I didn't get a same-day oath ceremony but now I'm glad I waited. Being at such an important venue beats an office building or high school anytime

Anyways, I've mentioned this before, I'll mention it again. Congrats to all successful July 2012 N400'rs and thank you for all your support!

Hi All,

Just to let you know I had my interview this morning and it went smoothly.

Only waited 5-10 minutes in the waiting room.

Most of the initial questions just went over what I wrote on my N-400 form. Then I was asked to read a very basic sentence, as well as to write a very basic sentence, before moving to the civics questions. Once I answered the first six, the test was over.

After signing a few documents, I was given the form that mentioned I was recommended for approval. Overall, probably spent only 30 minutes in the building.
