Hi all,

First of all, here is my history: I sent in the I-129F application December 18th. I received the I-797 saying that the petition was approved, dated May 25th (I did not get the email or text message notification, even though I did for the first NOA). After calling the NVC several times, I was told they had no record of my case. I emailed nvcresearch@state.gov on June 24th, but as of now I haven't received a response. However I called NVC again today and was given a case number, and told the file was sent to the embassy in Paris today!

Because of the delay at the NVC, I realized my fiancee would not be joining me until the end of the summer at the earliest. So I made plans to visit her. I will leave next week and return the middle of August. But since it looks like the embassy will probably get the file by the end of this week, it seems like she could get called for the interview while I am there. So I want to make sure to bring with me all of the documents she will need for the interview. But obviously since the embassy doesn't have the file yet, they have not sent the list of what to bring. This is what I have:

Copy of I-129F package (she has this already)

Originals of documents submitted with the I-129F (mainly boarding passes from trips we took together)

Proof of ongoing relationship (photos and more boarding passes)

New statement of intent to marry

Form I-134, and documentation (letters from my bank and my employer)

Is there anything else I am forgetting? I have seen people mention pay stubs and tax returns, but according to the I-134 instructions you only need the letters unless you are self-employed, which I am not. Should I bring them anyway? My employer doesn't give pay stubs anyway, the information is all on the web, so that would not be a big deal, but do I need to bring copies of my tax returns? For how many years? Or can I just bring my W-2s?

Thanks for any help.

Bring 2 years of tax transcripts (free from IRS and come pretty quickly) and 3 months recent pay stubs. Any evidence provided on this trip including your boarding passes, etc is also helpful for interview time.

Thanks a lot. I didn't know about the transcripts. Since I am leaving in one week I doubt I could get them here before I leave. Do you think I could ask for them to be sent directly to France? I couldn't find this info on the IRS website, but I will give them a call in the morning to ask.

In some cases, think you might need 3 passport style photos for both you and her. You probably know about that already but I didn't see it listed in your OP.

It doesn't apply to Paris. OP, your french fiancee only need 2 passport pics of herself, not you.

Paris doesn't ask for new proof of ongoing relationship, but let's say it just help to feel better to have them. In fact, they will even give back to your fiancee proofs that you previously submitted with the I-129F.

The most important thing you need to bring is:

I-134, last 3 pay-stubs, last tax transcript, letter from employer, your new letter of intent (with original signature).

Then if you want to be prepare in case they are suspicious about your relationship/support (rare, except if there are some obvious reasons), have her bring new proof of meeting/realtionship (boarding passes, itinerary, hotels receipts, emails...), previous tax returns, more pay stubs, a new copy of your US citizenship...

Now that your fiancee case is at the embassy stage, you'll have better answers from members who did dealt with the Paris embassy (process is now country-specific). Feel free to ask me, or check out these links:

Good luck! :P

PS: Please, create a timeline, it's quick to do and it will help future members to have an idea of how long each steps took for you (something you can do to, so you may have an idea of when your fiancee would receive her packet3, and then her interview date).
