Should i show proof of this? Does it stand out as a red flag that we met online? Opinions please! Thanks.

Of course i know that, but what im asking if that's a red flag or not & if i should provide proof on how we met.

I just found the MENA forum where i should have posted this topic. I'm not finding a delete button here...

Red flag or not, that's how you met and you can't change that.

Relax, a lot of people met online nowadays and have successfully applied for K-1 visa.

No need for proof for meeting online but a lot of proof of meeting physically will help.

We were asked several times about our common friend in FB. You DO NOT want it to come across as someone playing matchmaker for an egyptian desperate to get out of the country. In our case, we met through a webinar, but we did have a couple of common friends in FB. So we explained away the truth: they are activists from the same network.

Find a common thread between them, not just "my friend thought we could be a great couple and suggested us to get to know each other." There's a 50/50 chance that may raise a red flag only b/c sometimes these friends have ulterior plans.

Don't ever do anything you're not willing to explain the paramedics.

Well... the consulate may look at this as a red flag, or it might not.

From this and your other post, I gather that you went to Egypt in 2009 and became close friends with some people you met there. These Egyptian friends are also connected (either friends or relatives) to the person who you said is your best friend in the U.S.

Finally, this best friend in the U.S., along with the friends in Egypt, connected you to the man who is now your fiance, whom you met in person in 2010. Is this correct, or did I misinterpret something ?

If this is correct, it is possible that the consulate might wonder if there was some "set-up" going on between your friend in the U.S. and the group of Egyptian friends to match you (as a USC) with an Egyptian seeking to emigrate to the U.S. Please understand that I am certainly not claiming that this is the reality of your relationship; I am just saying the consulate tends to look at these things very suspiciously.

So if this is the case, you would want to include very persuasive evidence that will convince the consulate that your relationship is based on mutual interests, etc., rather than convenience. You would want to carefully document that your relationship progressed in a normal and gradual way from simply acquaintance (a friend of a friend saying "hi" on Facebook) to close friend and then to romantic interest. Copies of your chats/Facebook messages (with timestamps) over the course of your relationship - from the point of initial meeting, to the development of the friendship, to the beginning of romantic conversations, to the point of becoming engaged - this would be great evidence to show. Also records of phone calls, "real" cards and letters (sent through the mail with postmarks) can help document this timeline.

Good luck !

Question 18 concerns your meeting in person, within the two years prior to filing the petition. Not how you first met to begin your relationship.

I see no issues about the truth, which is you two met through friends. That happens all the time.

don't forget the sex tapes. those are essential.

As far as I know, the consulates do not accept any video evidence.
