... or married fat women (this is not a love marriage ) trust me ...

So does that mean that fat women have no right to be loved by someone?

Waste of time pointing this out, but I just couldn't help myself!

Think before you post!

< sarcasm >

Fat women are to be ridiculed and/or ignored until they die. Its obvious that anyone more than 5 lbs overweight (10 at the most) doesn't deserve love or happiness or to meet someone they get along with and have fun with. Also, it's pretty obvious that love is based upon a person's physical appearence, so anyone who doesn't conform with American movie-starlet stick-thinness (which is, obviously, the only understanding of beauty anyone can possibly have), could never be loved by anyone. Thus, any overweight person who is married to a foreigner is clearly being used by that person for entrance into the USA. DUH, Anyta! lol

Thank God we know this now! How could we have all been so blind? Wake up VJers!

I just want to add that one only needs to come to Newport Beach to see that marrying for money or social status is not unique to foreign spouses. Marriage is as much a farce with some Americans as it is for anyone else. Unfortunately there are no laws against marrying someone to better one's life ...and in a sense, aren't we all doing just that?

hee hee hee, I've, uh, seen the OC... But in the same vein, I think most people aren't THAT naive, and they probably know that there is a reason their spouse was specifically contacting Americans from an internet cafe in Algeria, joined a dating service to meet American men touring Eastern Europe, or a web site to meet Filipinas. Even if it is an arrangement, who are we to judge and say that those people shouldn't be happy with a relationship that may have started with desire for a greencard and blossomed into something else?

The institution of marriage is changing, and it's not harming America any to allow legal immigrants to enter our country for the purpose of making a better life for themselves.

Hm, this is kind of incoherent...I swear I had a point in there somewhere...

I mostly agree with Alex on this one.....except I strongly disagree with the bit in red. I think the problem really lies in the aftermath....many times in the case of a fraudulent marriage, the couple is not on the same page. The non-USC comes over and 'is not the same person' or (s)he disappears, only to leave the USC thinking '#######???' The USC gets their heart broken, and are sitting there in bewilderment in ####### happened while the non-USC enjoys benefits of destroying a person's heart, dreams, etc. It makes me very sad because in a lot of instances, it's so sad how the USC has built this relationship up so much in his/her mind, and then when it's not the way it should be, it prolly shakes up his/her whole world.

It's like seeing a book turned into a movie.....sometimes what is there is not what you had envisioned in your mind.

I think that especially given the whole Affadavit of support angle....that USCs should be especially diligent in making sure they really know their partners and who they are vouching for. Yes, we can all use the justification of 'it happens anyway' and while that may be true, it's not really relevant. 'But mom, everyone is doing it' springs to mind.

If both people are on the same page...then hey...who's for anyone to say what's right and what's wrong...as long as both parties hold to their end of the bargain.....The people who take advantage of someone's heart and rides his/her coattails of hard work only to let that person down is a selfsih azzhole and deserves to be deported.

I totally agree with that. I think it doesn't hurt if the petitioner kind of knows what's going on. Or they know that their spouse was initially interested in them because of their nationality... I guess that could be ok. But in those cases where the beneficiary just screws the petitioner over, and really has been lying the whole time... those people are disgusting and ruthless.
