Hi,

I have a question. I am a US Citizen trying to bring in my Canadian fiance'. I am a woman that has five children. Financially, I can swing it according to the guidelines because all of my children get substantial child support payments. I only have to earn about $17,500 a year. Now here is what I am nervous about. My fiance' doesn't have that great of a work history. He hasn't worked for an employer for about six years now. Will that cause him any problems? He helped his family out by helping to take care of his elderly parents and his even more elderly grandmother for many years. He is now looking for work.

I am the one having to prove financial support for him during the time he can't work in the USA. But, will they hold it against him that he hasn't worked for so long? He is wonderful with my children and it really helps me to have him here and I love him dearly!

He also has been doing volunteer ministry work. He is thinking of becoming an Ordained Minister. He does have a college degree in linguistics but never worked in the field. Will that help?

Can someone tell me whether we are going to have a problem concerning this?

Thank you!

The beneficiary's work history is unimportant. The petitioner (the US Citizen) is the person who must prove they can support the beneficiary financially without them becoming a public charge.
