If my hubby were staying then a nanny would not be needed but I will definitely be shorthanded with him being gone. Plus with this being my first pregnancy who knows how I will handle it. Its better not to be alone. Aside from that, I only plan to be on leave from school for 2 months. I must go back and graduate before he returns from deployment because i dont want my husband to be pressured to support us financially and work after a year of awful deployment. I want him to be home and get to know the baby since he will miss out on so much. I can earn enough on a SLP salary to support us. I wish people would ask for the whole story before judging me as needing a nanny coz of my culture lol.

Congratulations and good luck.

Be careful saying you wish "people would ask for the whole story... before judging you" Only one person did that and everyone else was helpful and or nice; you don't want to paint everyone with the same brush do you?

ya, i wasna going to say anything about 'culture' here...

when we have our babies, it's expected that my mother in law come to usa for 6 months, from month 9 of pregnancy to babies month 5...

Basically, if we were living in China and having babies there, I'd hire an aiyi for 2 years, a live in caretaker...

I see nothing wrong with having a live in , espectially with MBH's crazy schedule to finish school (it's not crazy in itself, but to have babies in the middle of a masters program is a lot of stress, she needs help , a human to help).

So, culture aside, she will need someone there if she's going to maintain her school schedule. IMO, that's a given.

Hey ! MBH!!! check in with the base's Officers Wives Club/Organization - they can find you several people to stay with you and your child (even you are paying for it) and it's a good way to hook in to the base (you've been doing that, already, yes?)

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Congratulations on the baby! I was a military wife for a long time, and there are lots of resources out there that can help. Don't ever be afraid to ask for help from the FRG if you need it. And, in my opinion, going to school full time would be a great way to pass the time during a deployment. They're tough. Also, one of my close friends works with a group that provides au-pairs and nannies from Spain and England who are looking to be set up for temporary positions in America. For the life of me, I can't remember what the name of the group is, but if you want any information, just ask.
