Hi Shermike,

Hartford Office is easy to find if you haven't already checked it out its on Main Street Hartford and there is adequate parking accross the street down a side street for 9 bucks. The offices there are undergoing some work so you have to enter the building via the small street to the left of the Federal building as you face it on Main street.

We arrived about 15 minutes before interview time and a notice instructs you to put your NOA letter under the slot in the counter as you enter the waiting area. We waited until our due time at 10.55am and the interviewer came out the door and called us both through. She was a very friendly and polite young woman with a nice manner that put us right at ease, but there is no guarantee you will get her, but the general atmosphere was one that dissolved most of our apprehension.

We stood for a minute on entering her small office and we were sworn in to tell the truth following which she invited us to both sit down.

She went over all the questions from the I-485 form regarding criminal offenses, drugs, terrorism etc., all of which I had answered "NO" to anyway and then proceeded to talk in an open manner about our relationship, how we met, when we first lived together, when we got married and then she asked for one or two pieces of evidence, photos, joint banking statements etc. all of which we had taken in a well presented file case. After about 10 minutes she left the office briefly, returning with my passport with my I-94 page removed she then said "there you go you have the I-551 stamp fully work authorized" but she explained it was Conditional due to us not being married for 2 years yet and then said "you will receive an approval notice in a few days from now" followed by "you should receive your GC in the regular mail in about 2 weeks, CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU BOTH." I handed her my EAD card as this would no longer be required, they do this so there are no official cards floating around out there to be potentially used for illegal means. We thanked her for the way she had treated us and also complimented her on her technique of interviewing to which she thanked us in return and we left. The whole proceedure start to finish took no more than 20 minutes, in fact about 35 minutes in all including waiting time.

Thank you so much for your reply. The closer I get to the date the more stressed out I feel. I am trying to put together all the documents they requested and then some!
