Filing for someone else

Can I file an I 130 for someone or do I have to be an immigration lawyer to do that?

If you are just mailing the form and documentation for them, no problem. If you are filling out paperwork for them, there is no rule or law that I am aware that says you can't but you need to make it crystal clear to them that they are 100% responsible for providing you with accurate information, you also need to make it clear that you are not an attorney and anything you tell them must not be taken as nor construed as legal advice. Additionally, they must still sign on the forms requiring a signature.

Finally, you must also tell them that you would not be able to act as a representative for that individual at any immigration proceeding.

Ty so much. Yeah, they know am not, I was in the same situation as them 5 years ago that's why they are asking for my help. Thanks again

I would have them do it and assist as needed. There have seen issues with postings where members do not under stand the process, time lines needed to follow for the process and other limitations etc. Personally I had a friend who just did his and was successful along with the VJ members and guide input.

Agree with bigdog- I think the better option for everyone would be for the person to fill in the forms and ask you questions as needed (or come here to ask same).
