they get average of 6 calls from me. you will get a email later saying it will take 20business day and that is the actually time they open your email for review. a previous operation mention they are working overtime this saturday. if this is valid, then you should get the next process.

you should go ahead and send in your guz packet 3 in the email asap. you can get the form here and email it http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3830.html .

thanks. at this point I guess more calls doesn't help, unless I ask for a supervisor or something. I guess I will do that on Monday, if still no response from NVC by then.

"So greencard was ordered yesterday and can take up to 30 days, but my husband has to start school so we have to open bank accounts, get mobile phones etc. You cannot do any of this online (he's going to another state where there are different banks) without a SSN. I called USCIS and SSN and it was like they had never heard of the CR1 process. I said that all he got at POE was an entrance stamp saying CR1 and NOTHING else. So can't we go with that stamp, his visa that says CR1 as well, and marriage license as well as the welcome letter (797) that came in to the SS office and get him an SS number??"

It's only been 2 weeks from POE for you, and it's recommended to usually wait at least 3 weeks. The SSN can still come in the mail. But yes, if you need to apply in person at the SSA office, all you need is the passport with visa and stamp, along with a birth certificate.

Fellow VJ'ers

Today,I called NVC to find if the DS 3032 form I submitted in email(on 7/24) has been acknowledged by them or not. So far I paid the AOS (7/29) and sent the AOS packet(1/8). I got an delivery confirmation from fedex that the AOS pkt was delivered next day. Today when I called NVC,they neither acknowledged DS 3032 and AOS packet reciept as well. They asked 10-15 days to reflect that in the system. Is that normal? what is ideal time to see NVC bill invoice after AOS invoice?

Also I have a very specific question about required documents for DS 230. Do I have to submit certified photocopies for Birth cer, Mrg Cet and PCC instead of originals? I searched the forums for specific answer but couldn't fine one.

Since I am the agent for my beneficiary,Should I ask beneficiary to send me certified copies of the above docs instead of originals from India? Please suggest.

The NVC operators won't know about your AOS package until it's on an officer's desk and is being reviewed. Until then, it's like they haven't received it as it's not logged in the system for operators to see.

And the IV invoice has NOTHING to do with the AOS track. The IV bill is invoiced after the DS-3032 has been accepted and added to the case file.

For the certificates, it's either originals or certified copies.

Yes, you submit the certified copies in the IV package. No need to bring the originals to the interview as they'll have the certified copies on hand. It wouldn't be a bad idea though, in case they want to see it.

By the way: if you want the certified copies returned to you at the interview, make sure you also include regular photocopies of the birth and marriage certificate, in addition to the certified copies.
