I am confused by this. Why should a person have copies of documents that have already been submitted to the NVC (which will wind up at the Consulate anyway)? I was reading about it here

I mean I can understand police certificates that have expired (I know mine by then would have expired). The reason I am asking is because I do not have a copy of my husband's divorce papers & I know that will be submitted to NVC when a case# is assigned. Everyone saying bring copies of everything to the interview sort of has me worried now :/

I always suggest bringing a copy for those "just in case" moments. It's rare, but sometimes the consulate/embassy doesn't receive stuff. Or, they might have lost it or claim they never received it. By having a copy, you can produce it at a moment's notice and possibly save yourself from AP.

Okay, now my IV fee status switched from Not Available to Not Paid! Yay!

But...when I click Pay, it takes me to the invoice page, and there's nowhere to pay the fee!

Are you using IE? If so, it might still take a few hours for it to be completely ready to be paid.

My husband is the petitioner & when we were last together he took all the documents (birth certificate, military records etc) required by the NVC from me. He did this to avoid the further delay we could have experienced by snail mail/courier..when I sent out my I-130 it took 10 days to get to the US by DHL

I even sent another PCC with his cousin because my old one expired. So I am not the one that will be submitting the documents because I don't have them, my husband does & he's the one that will send them in. Had I discovered this site back then I would have made a copy of his divorce documents. I hope the Consulate does not lose/claim they didn't receive it like Saylin said.

Oh, and Saylin, no IE, but I've done everything through Safari so far and no problems. I'll go to my dinosaur computer and fire up the IE...just in case...

I'd suggest just having him scan everything and then email them to you. You can then print it out and bring it to the interview. This would be a lot faster, cheaper, and safer than mailing the documents to you.

yay!!! BIT, please keep us updated because you are the only MEP case I know that won't need a waiver...or will you? Either way, I really hope to know how it all goes! :jump:

Yeah, I totally understand that! In Mexico mail is also very unreliable! But it's definitely good to have copies, just in case something gets lost. . If he's not going to be there for your interview, you should consider having him scan you the documents.
