i am confuse at what step am i current at... i was told that i would receive this in the email later today http://travel.state....T-0005-1205.pdf

Your confused!

I am stuck in between USCIS and NVC hell. No one knows nothing. Now USCIS says they show me transferred to NVC July 10th. Although friday July 27 a service request was put in to immediately send my case to NVC. So as she says "it could take 30 to 60 days to get there". Here I though I already waited the 30 days and its not happening. So so disappointed and sad.

See me at the dock waving all all of ya'll on your ships being launched out. While mine is still oh who knows.:crying:

QP and Thomas I haven't ya'll 42 days at NVC no case# for them.This is crazy.:bonk::help:

So frustrating, Deb! :( sorry

You just have to wait for the NVC to review, accept, and add your DS-261 to the case file. Until then, not much to do. There's probably a lot of online forms to go through, so the wait time might be the same as DS-3032s: 1-2 weeks.

Thanks! I was just making sure that checking the portal was the fastest way to find out it was accepted. :) sounds like it is!

i called the today and i learn that my aos packet finished review on 7/26/12. so it took them 8 business days to complete the review.

tumblr_lwmp498BVA1qfu4tho1_250.png

this is driving me nuts that on 7/27 and 7/30 i received a checklist for ds230.... i had already told the operator that form was sent and still told that ds230 is missing.

Are you up for training NVC TeleOperators about NVC Electronic Processing for Guangzhou, or no? It's a thankless task, to be certain - but only YOU get some benefit in training them, each time.

If something's requested with the DS-230/260, we can't assume that they will have it in the i-130. I always assume that they lost my i-130 package and send everything that they request. I'm so sorry about your RFE! Hope it gets processed and done quickly!!

not sure where else to post this...

So my husband came in with me from Spain on the 19th of July. We still don't have the greencard. How long does it take? Should we wait for it before opening his bank account and getting his mobile phone? He has an orientation in Indiana, can he travel with just his visa in the passport? Also, what is the next step after her receives his greencard, can we finally exhale or is there another daunting task for us to take on?

Lastly, is there anyone we can call about the whereabouts of the greencard.

Thanks to everyone!

oh, and is a SSN automatic with the greencard, or do we have to apply for that separately?

oh, and is a SSN automatic with the greencard, or do we have to apply for that separately?

The green card usually takes a few weeks to arrive by mail. It's been less than 2 for you, so you're well within regular time frames. For me, it took 19 days to receive. Nothing you can do except wait at this point.

For bank accounts, you don't need a green card to open one. I went a week after my POE and opened a checking and savings account. For a mobile phone, he'll need a driver's license and/or SSN (that's how it is with Verizon, not sure about others). I got my phone before I even applied for a CR-1 visa: we just added a line under my husband's.

For domestic flights, you don't need a passport, you just need photo ID. I'd suggest he bring his passport though, just in case.

Nope, nothing to do after getting a green card. You'll have to remove conditions in less than 2 years, but that's it.

As for the SSN, did you tick off 'yes' on the DS-230 for the SSA to generate a number for you? If so, then this might or might not get mailed to you. It's suggested that, if you checked off yes, and it's been 3 weeks from POE, then go apply in person at a local SSA office. That's what I had to end up doing. Was in there less than 15 minutes and 10 days later, my SSN arrived in my mailbox.

as always you're a gem. yes we ticked off the YES thing. I went to get a temp license with him, and they said they need the greencard, and since we have to open a bank account online, since the bank where he will be going to school is not where we are currently living, we must wait for it. aw this sucks, i thought in 2 weeks we would have both SSN and greencard. but can we go say next week to get the SSN in the local office just to save time, he leaves for school in less than a month and we have a ton of stuff to do :-)

there's a stamp in his passport that validates his cr-1 visa to be used as a temp green card for one year, an I-551 document.

Not many Staff are trained about this, alas (Bank, DMV, University, HR Clerks)

Bring EVERYTHING possible as proof of relationship. Even stuff you've already submitted. You should bring a copy of everything you've ever submitted, both to USCIS and NVC. Here's a good list of bona fide marriage evidence: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/284203-evidences-of-bona-fide-marriage-relationship/

I am confused by this. Why should a person have copies of documents that have already been submitted to the NVC (which will wind up at the Consulate anyway)? I was reading about it here

The applicant is responsible to bring all required original documents to the interview, except for documents already submitted to the NVC. Failure to bring all required original documents to the interview may cause delay or denial of the visa. The following documents must be available at the interview:

I mean I can understand police certificates that have expired (I know mine by then would have expired). The reason I am asking is because I do not have a copy of my husband's divorce papers & I know that will be submitted to NVC when a case# is assigned. Everyone saying bring copies of everything to the interview sort of has me worried now :/
