My husband sent his Visa application packet to NVC from London on 07/11/2012. The good news was that they reviewed it by July 23, the bad was that they sent us a checklist cover letter/RFE on 07/25/2012.

Hi VJ’s...We had our interview 7/18. I think we were over thinking the whole process, the agent asked a few questions. The whole interview lasted all of 5 minutes, then she said we were approved!! Thank you all for your help

I'm confused...isn't china electronic processing? I guess not because I have done everything through the portal since I got my case number.

china is manual electronic processing - basically you scan and email filled forms opposed to filling out forms online...

When you interview you hand over your passport. After interview approval your passport goes to wherever your embasy send s passport for processing and the Visa is placed in th epassport. Depending on embassy it's either delivered to you (by courier at a small charge). or picked up for most countries at VFS (some courier place), usually in about a week or less barring any issues.

Just got an email from NVC with AOS invoice and DS-3023 with my wrong address. Called NVC and changed it again. Gonna pay the AOS fee in a while.

Just so everybody knows. because it's NOT explained here on VJ.

NVC operators now have TWO dates that they see when looking up your case BEFORE you get a case number.

I know this for a FACT.

The second date is the date they received your case, the first date is when the NVC gets notified that your case has been approved at the service center and is on it's way.

So you must ask for the two dates now if you want to know when the NVC received it.

PS. Most operators only give you one date and sometimes they give you the first one and sometiems the second.

That makes sense. Because they said on July 2nd they received it but they couldn't tell me that until July 5th. And some operators told me July 5th.

Deb, that's not good news at all...how is my husband going to get all that time off from work to wait for the visa? Snail mail is extremely unreliable in Mexico... . But thanks for your help hon!

Oh so I just got this e-mail: the subject was RE: (my affidavit of support package e-mail)

Dear Sir/Madam:

The National Visa Center (NVC) received your correspondence.

We received electronic documentation for this case. Please allow up to 20 business days from the day the email was sent for the scanned attachments to be uploaded to the electronic case file and reviewed.  

IMPORTANT:

Do not let more than one year pass without contacting the NVC concerning this visa petition. If a period of one year passes from the last date of contact (by telephone, mail, or e-mail) with the NVC, all submitted fees and documents expire. If this occurs, the fees must be paid again and documents must be resubmitted in order to continue the immigration process.

As this case is processing electronically, all forms and documents must be sent via email as scanned attachments to NVCElectronic@state.gov .  Sending physical documents to the NVC will delay the processing of your case.

Check on your embassy website for courier service. It doesn;t come snail mail but courier or you pick up. All websites have that info. and it should take a week or less. Some get in with 5 days depends.
