Hey everyone,

Quick question: does anyone have any idea how long it usually takes the NVC to review and give a "Case Closed" (if everything is in order) after sending in a response to a checklist? They received my checklist response a week ago, but of course say 20 working days to review. I hope that isn't the case!

Thanks!

Checklists usually take the same amount of time as reviewing packages the first time around: about one week. So, you could hear any day of a case complete.

You don't ALWAYS receive a false checklist. I never received one. So, yes, the only true way to know if your packages were accepted is by calling.

Saylin....

when do you think I should call again?? ... it's been 7 business day today =/

I was so worried about my AOS cos I have a joint sponsor and my husband (USC) lives abroad so we sent a lot of extra proofs

Hope it gets accepted soon =(

Thanks, Saylin! I have to call them to find out, right? They won't call me...?

Another question....my hubby and I did something REALLY stupid. The IV packet that we sent (and that was approved), we sent it without making a copy of it. Now there is no way to get a copy because we sent all original documents, of course. Just how terrible is this? How likely is it that we might need something from there?

Thanks

NVC never calls anybody, as far as I've seen. The only way to find out is by calling them.

A lot of people unfortunately don't make copies. It's not a huge deal. I just recommend it so you can have a copy for your records. No, nothing should be asked from it at the interview as they'll have the IV package sent from NVC.

Sorry, Saylin, that was a stupid question, I know they don't call anyone but I did think that maybe they email you eventually with a Case Complete. When they do finally assign an interview date, if you don't call, they do email you to inform you of that, right?

Thanks!

Quick question... can my hubby fill out the affidavit of support form now and have it handy without waiting for the instruction package from NVC?..... he has his tax returns for the past three years and also got his W2, he is waiting for his employment letter and also his pay stubs too.

Yes, your husband can go ahead and fill out the form and print it out. He can place all documentation with it and be ready to make the payment and print the barcoded sheet to go with the packet. You can never be too ready!

You will need to supply the DS-230 with an original signature. My husband signed in blue ink and FedEx'd me a copy from Nigeria. I received it in 4 days and the cost was around 80 USD or =N= 11,000.

If you need anything else, let me know!

It looks like you sent your last packet a week ago. I would be calling today. Case complete's don't take long and they've had a week now.

Good luck

Congratulations on your visa! How amazing! I will hopefully be following you to Sydney in a few months for our interview. How did it go? :)

I did call, and the fellow (very nice btw) said they were waiting on my AOS packet. Which was delivered last week. I am now starting to panic a little. Hopefully it just means they are still processing it? Maybe I will call back later to try a different operator. This is freaking me out. I hope they didn't lose it!

Hey for those who did or know how long does it take if you choose to pay by money order or cashiers check (the snail mail)? Just wonder how much delay that may be. But its money so fgure it will be fast like they did our initial packets. LOL

Yep, that is what I was thinkin...money order is like $$$$$!

Just curious....... is there a reason why you want to add delay by making payment thru mail using money order and not via online payment? :innocent:

In IR1/CR1 category at most they may ask petitioner's annual income and copy of AOS with past tax returns copy. I have not seen any Mumbai interviewers been asked with lot of questions about AOS.

Aaah that makes sense :) IMO paying online is much easier then money order if circumstances permits you to do so
