We hit 105 last week and were above 100 every day until just a few days ago, when we started getting some very welcome rain. So we got a reprieve - temps will only reach the mid 90s today.

This type of weather is not so unusual in the summertime in South Texas (although the 100+ temps usually start a bit later, in late July or August.)

But it's very hard on communities in the north/northeast where so many people don't have air conditioning. Stay cool !

You must be nearby to us. The humidity is finally starting to kick in and it's horrible! Until you have been out in 100f+ 80%+ humidity you don't know what hot is!

100f+ temps don't usually come this early but we have had lots days of it already, and it isn't getting any better. All we can hope for is some rain, please send some this way.

I feel bad for the people without air, get lots of fans! Or failing that splash out on a wall unit.

I'm in San Antonio. It's not as bad as the Houston and New Orleans areas (I once spent a lovely 3 weeks in NOLA in August) but it can get pretty humid here too. I've lived in the desert through 120 degree heat, and it wasn't nearly as uncomfortable as the outdoor sauna we get here. High heat + high humidity = 100% misery :crying:

It is very miserable, it makes us tough though! :) My friends back home were complaining it was "so hot" this week, it was 66f and 60% humidity. Sissies.

For all of you who aren't used to the heat, remember to drink lots of water.

I've got a friend (from Lubbock, Texas) who married a woman from Scotland and she was always dying from the heat down here - she'd switch to shorts and half sleeves when it was still in the 50s and we were still wearing our winter clothes. By the time it was in the 70s she would be sweating, red-faced and blotchy, poor darling. It can take years to acclimate, and some never do. She's such a sweetie, bless her heart. We were always trying to get her to say "Rrrrrudolph the Rrrrred-nosed Rrrrrreindeerrrrrr" but she would always refuse - "I wooon't dooo it !"

However she did make sure we learned to pronounce "Edinburgh" properly.

Poor girl, I hate it when people ask me to "say something" too! :P

Came back from the Smoky Mountains yesterday - stopped over for a night in Atlanta on the way down on Saturday. Good Lord, it was hot as hell there: 104 F when we arrived at around 4:00pm. Unbearable.

I was in ATL Saturday . Your right, it was sooo hot.
