Hi guys,

would like to thank you all for reading this post in advance.

I am a Canadian citizen on F1 OPT. My OPT is ending on june 30th (this saturday) and I am going back to Toronto for 1 week, due to personal reasons.

After that, I need to come back to the US to clean up my apartment etc (as a tourist/B2).

I am wondering if there is a minimum time period between leaving the US (during grace period after F1 OPT) and coming back as a tourist?

Is there a possibility of being denied admission?

If I was denied admission, is there a way to temporarily enter the US ? ( I heard something like entering with parole, could someone clarify?)

Thank you,

Lukas

Of course it is a possibility. When I was denied entry shortly after my student visa (although I was also married to a USC) the CBP told me that with so much time spent in the US on my student visa, my ties to the US were greater than my ties to Canada.

If you are denied entry then you would probably have to wait some time and re-establish ties in Canada before you are permitted to enter.

Good luck - I'm sure you will be fine but do you have any ties or reasons to return to Canada?

Thank you for your response, canadian_wife.

I have successfully come back ino the US today. The CBP officer was friendly and did not seem to care about why I wanted to visit the US. He did take away the F1 I-94 though.

I always maintained an address in Toronto and I also file for taxes in Canada and maintain bank accounts etc in Canada. I brought all these documents with me to the airport. I guess I was overprepared...
