Seriously? Living in Windsor is not a picnic when your near abandoned houses due to the Ambassador Bridge. Sueing the guy who built it / owns it (the Ambassador Bridge) hasn't even helped the city and it was deteriorating last i saw. There is also the Tunnel to use. I dont see the point of having another crossing that will just screw that area up even more.

It's actually a much needed and long overdue project. The Ambassador bridge carries most of the US-Canada trade in goods- more than all other bridges/ports between the US and Canada combined. That too for the countries that have the largest trading relationship in the world.

Yet the bridge is privately owned, and the owner charges high tariffs for all freight vehicles (not surprising, since he has a monopoly).

Building a new, publicly owned bridge will dramatically reduce dependence on the Ambassador bridge. It should lower trade costs, but also provide a good backup in case of anything happening to the Ambassador. THink of that bridge being destroyed or inoperable and you'll see that US-Canada trade will come to a standstill.

Didn't mean this post to sound like an advertisement. But really, there is no good reason to oppose construction of a new bridge at Detroit.

I also lived there. I think it's great that they are doing this bridge. Huron church is way too crowded with transports and it'd be nice to not have to fight with them from the 401 to the bridge.

I refuse to use the tunnel and from what I recall, that's more frequented by people going to and from work.

Don't know if I'd use the new one ( for some reason I thought it would be more for the transport traffic) I love what they've done with putting the exit for 75 right out of the toll booth at ambassador
