hmm than maybe it would be better for me to take my car back to canada. that's if I can get that compliance letter hmmm.

Maybe you should check to see if there are any outstanding recalls on your vehicle before you plan to do anything. The dealer cannot give you a letter of compliance unless the car is actually in compliance. In order to be in compliance, all outstanding recalls must be taken care of, and if your vehicle needs to have a recall taken care of, you may need to bring it with you (or else get it taken care of in your town at a local dealer).

You could check to see if they do compliance letters at your nearest dealership. If they don't, then check with your Canadian dealer because there would be nothing worse than getting all the way to Canada, and then realizing you had to take your vehicle with you.

Call them to make sure (hear it from the horse's mouth).

Not sure if this is helpful, but Progressive doesn't care what country the vehicle is licensed in (i.e. Canada) and will insure a Canadian driver and vehicle at a US garaged address, even on a month-to-month basis.

Do you have to have the vehicle at the border to import it? I was thinking maybe I should drive up to Canada with my husbands car and pick up a compliance letter for my car and at the border import my car. But do I need to have my car with me? Excuse my french, but This is such a pain in the A$$.

that's a great road trip for you and your husband, each human driving a car on the way back.

it can be more fun if you bring walkie talkies, and talk smack all the way back.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
