I just sent in my AOS package and my wife's IV package for the CR-1 visa, and it arrived a week ago. They told me it takes "20 business days to receive", even though it's already there. Every time I call for any reason they always tell me "wait 20 business days". I think it's their default answer.

they tell you 15-20 business days but in reality it takes a lil over a month (including the NON business days) for them to sent it to the NVC. just keep waiting, my approval date was MAY 11 2012, and they received my case at the NVC on JUNE 22, 2012. NVC sent it out to the consulate on the 26th of june.

according to my NOA2, it is written that we should allow 30 days. anything word of mouth is not sufficient/contract binding. i will do just that and i will have my representatives ready on the 25th day to formalize the complaint after the 30th day.

they can call me a @sshole. i am already taking care of two elderly people + full time work. i don't have anyone to call @sshole for this life.

Man there is no way I m waiting 15, 20 30 days are you kidding. They are going to fix their logjam now before my case gets there. The time lines and charts said it takes at least 5 months for approval at USCIS I got mine in 3 months 1 week. The NVC should be in and out a month or less. They say in guides give them a week and call and baby believe me I will be having them on speed dial (Isn't that in the Ling short cut guide).good.gif

Looks like the answers are just inconsistent. Some get 15, some get 20, some get 30-45. I called later after my initial post, and my case was received on friday with an LND number assigned. Looking at others in this thread, some serious questions need to be asked of CSC and the NVC! I hope you get yours sorted soon!

NVC CSR's often take liberies and provide info that is beyond the scope of their duties. They are told one thing and do another in some cases... Why.. Who knows.. ego, compassion, no single reason, just that they may say what they think and not what they are scripted to say.

I called NVC today and they said my case is on additional processing. Can someone tell me what does it mean? I asked if I have a case number already and the lady gave me the case number and asked me to call back again next week to check. Does it mean I'll have to wait few more weeks before they send it to the consulate or it should be out really soon???? Thanks.

Not necessary. They told us our case was under additional processing too but our case just left the NVC yesterday . All K-1 cases go through additional processing. Most of the cases leave the NVC within 2 days to 30 days. There are some cases that stay in AP for up to 60 days but that is rare nowadays. Just keep calling once a day and ask.

Same for me. NVC got my case on June 29th, gave me my case number, and then told me I was in AP. But I called today and my case left the NVC yesterday. So I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just keep calling and checking. =)
