Whose fiance/fiancee is attending the interview?

Hi Everyone!

There's now quite a few of us on here that have had our NOA2, are waiting for the packet 3 letter, or actually have the interview date. I'm just wondering how many of you are going to the interview with your fiance/fiancee.

Me personally, I want my fiance there. I see no reason why I would not be granted the visa, but I feel having him there will help and the support would be great.

I also applied for a vistors visa last year (march 2011) and was denied because I didn't have a job at the time (although having a job makes it's hard to go to the US for 6 months!) I've already been inside the building and leaving last time without the visa was heart-breaking.

This time it's so much more important, not to mention having to wait now for 6 months. I just don't want to take any chances- I couldn't bare to wait another 6 months.

My fiance thinks it's alot of money to spend, probably un-necessarily, but has said if I want him there, he will be there! I would rather work another month to help towards the cost of his flight and have him there, this is the most important day of our lives!

Also if there's anyone who's recently attended the interview in London with there fiance, could you let me know how you get the fiance into the embassy, i.e if they need a form????

Thanks :)

I would agree with your Fiancée.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Those all sound like solid reasons to want him by your side, and he is very sweet to say that he will be there if you want him to be.

My fiance won't be there. He just visited for 2 weeks, and went home last week, and we would rather spend the money on the wedding than another flight. I live really close to the embassy and haven't really worked up any nerves over the interview yet, although I'm sure they will come!

I remember reading other posts where people had called the embassy ahead of time and had their fiance(e)'s name put on a list to be allowed in on the day - I don't think it's enough to just turn up and wave your American passport.

Another advantage of having him there would be to bring more stuff back with him for you! Only let him bring hand baggage on the way over, and then pay for 2 bags each on the way back, all full of your stuff ;) (it gets much more expensive after the 2nd bag).

Having said all that, of course you would do absolutely fine on your own, and we could always get a cup of tea beforehand :)

I know im not doing a K-1 and my husband even lives in the UK with me! But he still wont be coming with me. Somebody needs to look after our daughter and even on the off chance they decided to let all 3 of us in, she wont be very happy sitting still for any length of time so i will just go alone.

They often turn peoples partners away even when they call in advance so its clear they dont expect you to bring them for a better chance of approval.

Good luck for when your time comes!

I attended the interview with my fiancé just because I wanted to go for the adventure and finances weren't a concern or getting the days off work. It did not help the decision in any way. We had a mini adventure to London...stayed in a hotel, shopped, toured Buckingham Palace, had a celebratory dinner, etc. Great fun if it won't dent your budget or he'd rather have vacation days to spend after you're there to help you settle. If you haven't looked into AOS yet, it's $1070 to apply shortly after you arrive.

Your tourist visa was denied because you wanted to spend a very long time in the US yet you weren't able to show a good reason you would return to the UK. This time you have been petitioned, vetted, vaccinated, and have an affidavit showing somebody will support you and marry you.. There is no way the denial of the tourist visa will affect the K1, unless the tourist visa was denied because of crimes, drugs, or other inadmissible things.

Maybe it would be cheaper to take a good friend along to London if you're too nervous to go alone. They could wait in the line with you, then go to the park or coffeeshop once you go inside. They could also hold your phone and electricals saving you from checking them at Goulds pharmacy.

Great topic :) I really want to go to the interview with my guy, but since his is on a Wednesday, getting the time off work will be a pain, not to mention the cost involved. I am going to visit him for the 4th for a few days (and also take some stuff back with me), so I think it'll just be really awesome knowing that when I leave, the interview won't be that long away and we can make sure we have everything ready :)

I know it's not totally guaranteed, but I've heard that if a petitioner wants to attend the interview, you can call the premium service line or the petitioner can call the U.S. department of state at 202-663-1225 and they can add the name to the list of people being accepted in that day.

I really like Nich-Nick's suggestion about having a friend go with you though, that sounds like a great idea :)

Thanks. I think if I hadn't had this interview last year, then I wouldn't know quite what to expect. Everything hangs on this 4 minute interview. I know it's going to be fine, all our paperwork has been ok, and we have spent almost a year together (in 3 month blocks)in the past 2 years. So I have plenty of proof of ongoing relationship, although I've read on here that it's not needed at the london embassy.

Even if my fiance comes over for the interview, it would be nice to meet up either before or after and swap stories!

I've already thought about him taking stuff back for me and bought 2 extra suitcases!

Hi, I've been working 2 jobs since January and saving hard, so money is not an issue.

My fiance finishes work by 4.30pm and has weekends off so he won't need to take any days off to help me settle. Also in the last 2 years I've spent almost a year there (split up) so I've already made friends through taking my son to story time at the library and to a play session at the local school once a week. I also know all the neighbours and a lot of the people that live in his village. He's 1 of 12 children so there's plenty of family in the area. In his village he has 3 sisters and 2 brothers living there and his Mom and three other sisters live a 20 min drive away. Everyone is so friendly, I found it really easy to settle in and make friends, in each of my trips.

I understand what you're saying about the tourist visa, I had 5 out of 6 boxes checked, the only one was I did not have a job to come back too. I own a property and had plenty of saving to live off, but she was not interested in looking at that. I was also still going through divorce, so not even free to marry. Again she wasn't interested and denied the visitors visa.

I know this won't affect this visa, I just need the support inside the embassy!

It is a good idea about taking a friend, I'm going to have to do some more thinking....

Orangedesk, thanks for the phone number and I hope you have a great time when you come over!
