Mother with early onset of dementia

Just wondering if it is possible to petition for my Mom to come and live with my family and I in the US. She has been diagnosed with dementia and is now in a home, she is almost 80 years old, but still has a lot of fight left in her. She always said she would like to live with us, but just wonder what we would do about the situation, my husband and I hate the idea of her being in a home and no visitors, my Aunt rarely visits her and there is no one around to keep her memory going.

Anyways, just wondering if anyone has experience of any kind regarding this situation.

Btw, my Mom is in the UK, she is a British citizen.

It's not impossible, but it will be difficult. Due to her age and dementia, she will never work, and so you will need to prove you can support her financially- not just the 125% poverty level, but also her medical bills, which aqre likely going to be substantial.

You are also going to have to fight the presumption of a public charge, her dementia and her age will make it difficult.

Thats what we thought. The dementia was sudden, came as a shock to us all. My Mom has a private and a state pension, I don't know if that could be transfered to the US.

There was a recent post from someone that is now trying to sneak his mother here after she went to her intervview and the consulate wanted proof of 500k in the bank to cover for her medical condition. You are probably looking at the same.
