Yes people have been denied. There is never a guarantee. Most people are fine, however.

You have to prove to the CBP officer that the person visiting has strong ties and reasons to return back to Brazil. Since you already have a K1 visa, the assumption is that there is an intent to immigrate. You have to overcome that. As others pointed out, it is risky and over the last 2 years I have seen a couple of people (specifically from Brazil) that were denied. That caused us to not try for Mari to come visit me here in states, but rather I flew to Sao Paulo and visited her. We did not want to take the risk.

Boa Sorte..

I was taken into secondary 4 out of 5 times when visiting USA. 2 of these visits were prior to filing for the K-1. I got lucky I was let through each time.

What would be the prove of strong ties to Brazil since I have not been working for almost 1 year and dont have anything in my name like a property or car?

thanks

If you already have a visa on hand, there is little you can present at the POE, since you do not have a job. It will be up to him/her to let you in and there is no way of knowing until you are here.

If you don't have a visa, chances of getting one without a job are very slim, all the more so because you are in the process of getting your K-1 visa. Then again, you will never know if you don't try.

I wasn't working at the time either. Most of the time they were very quiet typing things into the computer, it was really quite scary. I wish I could have seen what they were doing. I would make it clear when asked that I intended to return home and that I had a return ticket. Once I pleaded with them to call my partner at his work, they seemed to see I was genuine when I did that. Another time I was asked if I was intending to stay and I told them my mother would be very upset if I did not return home, which of course was true. I think you just have to get a feel for what these people are like and try and reason with them. They see a lot of people every day so it is probably quite easy for them to see when someone is being genuine. Try and stay calm and positive. :)

Dear member

I'll tell you my experience. While we were on the K1 visa process after NOA1, I went to the states, POE was Miami. The office was very kind and just asked me what was I going to do and where I was heading to. I told him that I was going to visit my fiance, and he just asked if she was an american, and also asked what did I do for a living. Anything else, he didn't even asked me for any proof but I took them anyway like a work certificate, bank statement, last mail received at work, like that

Hope this helps

How would bank statment prove something? you can always transfer your money to US while you there, I am asking cause this can be the only prove I have plus the tickets back.

thanks
