I-129F Rejected Question

My friend sent his I-129f and UCIS received it 06-12-2012, He just received a rejection and all of the papers he submitted in the mail along with form I-797C. He is older and I helped him filled them out. I used the help and comments from this website but the rejection was due to the fees. The check my friend sent was for $455.00. His neighbor had just gone through the same process and he had paid $455.00 even though the I-129F instructions said that it was , $350.00 or $340.00, I don't remember. I do remember reading in this website that it was $455.00 and his neighbor said the same thing that it was $455.00 even though the INS website said otherwise. OK he is getting ready to send a new check with the amount of $340.00. The question I have is: Does he need to redo all the forms again, that is , does he need to submit new forms? new signatures? new pics? Just the check? He got a receipt number on the I-179C notice of action (rejection). He is older and not to computer savvy and I seemed to have really helped him with everything except the amount for the I-129F fee. I feel pretty bad for him. Thank you for any help you can give us on this.

No, if the fee is the only problem, make a new check with the correct amount and re-send everything back. And next time, trust the USCIS instructions instead of a neighbor... ;)

No new forms needed and the check should be $340 dollars. Good luck.

Yes there was a fee reduction April 13th. Always go by what the USCIS website says. All he needs to do is send back the petition with the new check. No problem.

The fee for the I-129F was lowered almost 2 years ago from $455 to $340 back on Nov 23, 2010. Always read the form instructions. They include the current filing fees.

I'm kind of shocked at how many times this seems to happen. Don't people look and trust the website? Why would you assume your neighbor who filed years ago would know the proper fee, and the website would be wrong? Makes no sense...

Luckily, easy enough, new check, re-submit...

That's what happen to us also when we are still in K1 process. My fiance(now husband) send I-129F last November and then didn't check USCIS website. Then it turn out that just 3 days before he passed from $ $455 the fee decreased. So what we done is just send back everything with the correct payment but we waited until January todo that bec. it Christmas season. Anyways, you are still ok, just write a check with the correct payment and you will be good.
