Hello guys.

I recently attended to a college and was wondering if I would be able to take advantage of the Financial Aid.

I havent submitted the paperwork to fafsa yet since I am applying for U.S. citizenship next week and want to make sure

that I won't have a problems with immigration. I remember hearing that if you are a permanent resident you are not

allowed to use goverment help . So,if I would apply for Financial Aid and if qualify ,would start using free money for college

will I be rejected my U.S. citizenship ? We have a little girl as well and have been on WIC for a year? Would it affect my citizenship app

lication?

Thank you all for the info!

Agree. Go ahead you can apply for whatever you want, but use your A number on the applications. I've been receiving scholarships, and financial aid as well and no problems. Just sy that you are a permanent resident, not citizen. It's completely legal and won't effect anything. Good luck!

Did you go through naturalization since then ? If yes, did it go smoth ?

yes, I had my oath in March (almost 10 years from when I got my GC). It was not a problem, it was never brought up at any point of the process. They would not allow you to apply for financial aid as a permanent resident if it meant you would forfeit your naturalization eligibility.

Okay for primary and secondary schools, but for college, insisted on seeing my stepdaughters LPR card. Perfectly legal to apply for financial aid, if you can get it. Use to be, by the government helping a kid get through college, figured at a better income, would more than get that back in taxes. Did that with my older kids, got all their money back in the first years of taxes, plus some.

When I went to college, didn't need it, four bucks a credit hour, carry around 20 credits, talking 80 bucks, was also working, my employer picked up 75% of the tuition, big deal, 60 bucks. Books were also dirt cheap, typical around two bucks for a brand new book, today they rob you to death, 200 bucks for a used on, but can turn it back in and get two bucks for it if in excellent condition.

Then this age thing, USCIS and our courts consider an 18 year old a complete independent self supporting adult. Financial aid considers them a very dependent minor until the age of 25, I believe. So although my stepdaughter with some government agencies is considered an adult, another government agency, financial aid, said she was a very dependent minor. While she applied for it, didn't get it, her mom and I are making too much money! Hell after taxes, we are living in poverty according to their charts. So we had to foot the bill, and while we were laying out around $14,000 per year, could only deduct $4,000.00 of it, and that is after we were robbed blind with FICA taxes. For the last five semesters, tuition increases average about 80 buck per semester increases.

For the first two years, she shared a dorm with a roommate, not even as large as my bathroom, robbed blind on that, and the cafeteria prices ranged with those of the finest overpriced restaurants. We got her a small refrigerator and a micro, and were bring groceries to her each week. After two years, had to find off campus housing, here is where the real crooks are. $500 bucks a month for a small flat in an broken down house I am afraid to lean against as it may fall down.

Then we have these lying leaders stating how important and education is. Well she did graduate with honors, working now as an intern in her field at minimum wage, but has to work on weekends as a waitress to make ends meet. But still needs our help.

This is not the same country I grew up in. Good luck. Sending trillions to foreign countries and not helping our own.

What on earth are you talking about? You really are perplexing.

Education is important. You aren't living in poverty. Please keep your propaganda to yourself.
