:help: Yesterday I received the I797C Notice of Action for the I130. I eagerly raced to the post office today to send the I129f. I checked the USCIS website and thought i had read the directions carefully, but apparently not. anyway long story short, I sent the I129f to the texas address listed on the form when it should have gone to Chicago.

When I was getting ready to put the duplicate package that I sent away, something on the form caught my eye and that was the fact that K visa applications should be sent to Chicago. I immediately freaked out and burst into to tears because I realized the error cost Manoj and I precious time.

Anyway I called the service center to see what I needed to do and basically got three answers within the same conversation. I've now walked away more confused than ever. Adam from customer service said that they would mail the paperwork back to me and it could take up to a month. THEN he said "but if somehow you get a receipt issued and it has anything other than MRC on the receipt number you have to write in to the address on the receipt and ask them to forward it to Chicago." He then said, If you get a receipt number with MRC at the beginning of the receipt number you will be okay and you don't have to do anything. Now I'm totally confused.

Has this ever happened to anyone else? what did USCIS do? How long did it take?

Sorry guys but I'm just really low now. I can't believe I did something sooo stupid.

First of all...calm down, it's not as bad as you think. Couple ofr realistic options:

they will catch the error and mail back to you, they will forward it to the proper address

basically the amount of time lost will be minimal. Relax....not the end of the world.

God Bless.

I DID THE SAME THING...here is my story...

well i cost eden and myself 3 weeks processing time...

i guess for us the server going down had a good side to it...because there was little posting activity the last 24 hours this morning i went to visa journey just looking around...i always just stay at WOF...

i noticed a post by someone that said she had sent her k3 to chicago...and i thought to my self that she did wrong because it should be sent to texas...later in the day this started to bug me...so after i returned from the beach (lazy did not work today...lol) i pulled out the instruction for the I-129f that i sent 3 weeks ago to the texas service center...

and darn...there it was hidden as the last address..."if this petition is for your spouse send it to chicago"

darn...darn...darn...i came close to crying

i called the texas service center number and they told me that they would not foward it to chicago and that if they issued a noa1 for it i would have to call them back, cancel it and start over...

well i have jumped ahead, wrote a letter to texas service center to day withdrawing that petition and have already packaged and ready to express mail tomorrow morning a new I129f package to chicago...i am glad i made a complete copy for eden...i am sending that package tomorrow and i had extra passport photos of both of us...

darn...3 weeks lost sad.gif

needless to say i feel like #######

well how is this for mass confusion...lol

some of you may be familiar with my post last week "i screwed up"...it has had over 190 views (pretty good title huh?) lol

any way as stated the guy at USCIS told me to cancel that petition that was sent to the wrong address and stop payment on the check because THEY WOULD NOT FORWARD the K3 petition i sent to the wrong address.

therefore i followed his instructions and sent a new K3 package to Chicago and they received it on this past friday. rolleyes.gif

today my door bell rang and it was the postman...he had a package for me from my sister...however he also handed me a letter from USCIS...of course as soon as i saw this my heart leaped out of my chest and onto the floor...

well i opened the letter...guess what it contained...the NOA1 on the orginal K3 petition that i sent to the wrong address THAT THEY SAID WOULD NOT BE FOWARDED...

guess where the NOA1 was from...THE CHICAGO OFFICE!!!

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

now i have a K3 in Chicago with a NOA1 and a check with a stop payment on it....AND a K3 in Chicago with a good check but no NOA1 yet (they just received this one the past friday...remember?)

a great example of THE RIGHT HAND NOT KNOWING WHAT THE LEFT HAND IS DOING!!!!!!!!!!!!

NOT WHAT??????

Therefore...i got a letter from the debt management center wanting to collect the $170.00 on the first I129...so i called them they said never stop payment on a check to the gov't...i then receieved a letter from Chicago saying they would not proceed with the first I129 until the check was paid...

I had to make a decision...so i paid the $170 to the debt management center, wrote a letter of cancellation for the petition...then filed a protest with the debt management for the USCIS bad advice...

outcome:

1. got the noa2 for the second I129 in 35 days

2. got the $170 back from the government

3. got the NVC letter already

HOPE THIS HELPS YOU

RON

stop payment on the check. That would force them to send the package back to you.

I think that's what I would opt for too if I made that error. Less time wasted to just do that and send a new package to the correct address.

I agree, stop payment. Then today mail out a second one to the correct address. Why bother waiting for it to come back, or hopefully forward??? I don't trust them enough.

#1 - REAAAD in detail from now on! You have only begun the journey, and this is a process that requires the utmost attention to detail!

#2 - stop payment on the check or money order.

#3 - Send a completely new package to the right place, and keep your fingers crossed that there will be no confusion.
