Hello all,

Quick question regarding the AOS form I485. While completing the packet, one of the evidence needed is proof of vaccination.

My wife, who is the one that immigrated to the U.S (In May ’12), received her medical examination over in Pakistan. While getting her examination done, asked about whether or not she needs vaccinations. The place where she was getting her examination done said “no, you don’t need to get any vaccinations done for a K-1.”

She never got any copies of the medical examination that was done in Pakistan (in February ’12), only a CD that shows her x-rays. She received a sealed envelope that she handed over to immigration services when she arrived in the U.S. Now that we are filling out the I485, it states that she needs to get a vaccination test done. So I guess my question(s) are:

Has this happened to anyone before? If so, did you just simply get a vaccination test done?

Is there a way for her to request copies of her medical examination administered over in Pakistan?

Should I take the risk and file the packet without proof of vaccination, but indicate in detail why there is no vaccination proof?

Lastly, I know the answers will vary, but what was your cost for the vaccination and which vaccinations did you get?

Thanks,

Waqas K.

P.S.

Ever since I started the process to bring my wife over to the U.S. this website has helped me out immensely. Thank you for everyone on this website for all your knowledge.

Not a K-1 question as stated. Moving to the proper forums for AOS.

You do need vaccination to apply for AOS, you can send it without it, but you will get an RFE for sure. Is better to find a civil surgeon who will complete the vaccination form that you will need to attach with your pocket. The USCIS have your medical packet, so the only thing you need is vaccination.

The same thing happened to my husband. He came on a k-1 visa then we got married here in NY. Now we are filing out the AOS package and we are trying to complete the Vaccinations section.

We went to the civil surgeon and he got his blood taken to check for immunity. So the only tests he is required to do are the TB skin tests ($35), tetnus (free), and Meningitis ($142).

Also, the price for the blood work was $185 and the price for the CS to fill out and sign the I-693 form is $140. We are going to do the tests at our county health department office because apparently its less expensive than doing it at the CS's office.

After he gets these tests/shots we have to go back to the CS's office and schedule an appointment so the CS can sign the form.

We are going in tomorrow to do the shots.

You do not need a whole new medical done. You only need to find a civil surgeon that will not insist on giving you all the unnecessary tests of a medical exam and overcharging you. See this thread that was also posted today: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/375282-civil-surgeon/
