I can remember when I was in Leeds City Police and I got called to a riot at a big pub

Three hundred people going at it in the car park

I got out of the car (Vauxhall Viva), looked at then sternly, and told them to be quiet and go home

I was alone

They did. I expected them to. They could feel my confidence and they just did.

I was 19 and a virgin

Wouldn't like to try that in Milwaukee on a Saturday night

I thought police weren't allowed to get out of their cars if they were alone?

We were always alone. I didn't think anything of doing a stake out in a derelict house and arresting two at once

They rarely resisted. They didn't in those days.

I only used my stick once in 6 years and that was to finish a cat that got run over

My grandad said he had to do that too when he was a policeman. :(

My grandad said he had to do that too when he was a policeman. :(

I was no good with my fists either:

I hit a really big guy in the face with all my force. He was so drunk he never even felt it and my hand swelled up and went blue and black

When I got him to the nick he wanted to be my pal and I was doubled up in pain. He didn't have a mark and didn't remember it and was giggling

So much for John Wayne films

Is this why you didn't stick with it?

I wanted a top Mercedes and no weekend work and 9 to 5 hours and 40 lovely young women around me and flying Concorde - so I resigned

I took me 7 years heavy slog but I achieved it

Then I retired at 54

My colleagues from the police force were mainly dead by then - smoking - drinking - eating - shift work - satisfying all those women with uniform fetishes - its a killer

That ignores the lower efficiency of a high revving engine which wastes power as it reaches the peak of its rev range while the larger engine is still running at optimal revs

That ignores that we do not know the purpose for which each vehicle is being used. Assuming a smaller engine is more efficient is a mistake many still make. Can't save them all...

The engine of a Ford KA may be ideal for trimming weeds or crushing ice but it may not be as efficient for other tasks.

The Mandate is Constitutional

Can you image VJ Politics on the day The President wins re-election ?

Charles will be busy

I'm sure he can't wait. He'll probably take the day off so he can have maximum time to close threads.

Obama will be outspent by RMoney and the forces of evil allied against the President by a huge margin.

I wouldn't be so sure yet if I were you.

The only thing that counts is the handful of Marginal States

Brako is miles ahead in those.

People really do like the changes in healthcare regulations

Gas is down towards 3 dollars

Bin Laden is dead

Its easy

Its probably illegal to bet on it here , so I will get my daughter in the UK to put 10k on it

Actually I wonder what odds the bookies are quoting over there ?

You know, in countries where people are allowed to do stuff...

Two words to the wise: LAS VEGAS...

When I came here, I used CFD's (Contracts for difference) and spreadbetting (derivatives) to do all my investing via London firms

Its illegal here and illegal for US residents to do it online

So I closed all my accounts because I am a model citizen

Nevertheless, over 50% of the people who use these methods worldwide, are American residents who break the law

All the uptight over gambling and alcohol is a real throwback to the puritans and prohibition

It's giving slowly and they actually have beach bars in Milwaukee !

I will be celebrating the Brako victory in Milwaukee and rattling my keyboard on VJ when I return to Madison

Nye Bevan who implemented the NHS, said fascism was the future refusing to be born, so the current impetus in the USA is a real roll back for fascism
