Hi everyone!!!

My hubby filed for a CR1 visa for me and my son lAst MArch . NOw we are currently waiting for my NOA2 to arrive.

Assuming that our visa is granted ( which we are very hopeful and constantly praying for it)....

My hubby and I are thinking about me going to US first so i could settle down, adjust and find a job

And then go back home (Philippines) to get my son before his Visa expires ( which is i think 6 months right?) :help:

I would just want to ask if im allowed to go travel internationally even i am on CR1 visa or do i have to wait to get my permanent GC?

Please enlighten me on this. Thanks

Once endorsed at the POE upon your entry, that CR-1 serves as you GC, and you may travel with it. No problem.

Correct but he green card itself will arrive within a month. It is a fallacy that one must wait for the ten year card before leaving the USA. You can leave on the next flight if you want.

My concern with the opening post is that the OP used singular terms like NOA2 and visa instead of NOA2s and visas. Hopefully, there were two petitions filed. If not, they need to file one for the child ASAP.

Six month from issue date is the standard but check the expiration date on the visa once you have it.

A big issue, on interview day -

is that usually both of you are interviewed same day

so the IV unit bundles BOTH VISA PACKETS together into one big packet.

You need to ask them to prepare TWO VISA packets, and tell the VISA OFFICER to write down 'seperate the visa packets, is different travel dates' or you will have a big mess when the son finally hits the USA -

without unbundling, alas, HIS packet is in YOUR packet, and CBP at the POE will create havoc without HIS packet in HIS hand.

Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
