Really stressing out, AOS sent, scared...

I'm really having a hard time not stressing out about all of this right now. If you need some background on me and my wife and where things stand, check out my previous threads. I will give the cliffs notes again.

Met on a forum online, visited Canada many times and vice versa

Wife had .48 grams of marijuana in purse, was fined (not arrested) by CBP early 2010

Wife visited many times after this fine, no issues other than being in secondary EVERY time

Got married Nov. 26th 2011 in USA

Sent in AOS paperwork June 26th 2012

Basically when we got pulled into a random secondary, she had that small amount of marijuana in her purse. She had no idea it was even there, it was an ex's stuff anyway, not even hers. Unfortunately she did write on the paperwork that, paraphrased, "She some times used it back home to help her with insomnia." Other than this single incident she has no prior or since convictions, arrests, fines, use, or anything relating to drug offenses what so ever. Her criminal record in Canada is completely clean.

She wrote a letter of explanation of all of this with her I-485 form and we also included all the paperwork from this incident. There was no way we were going to hide anything because after all, it's all on file with the port of entry and no doubt USCIS now anyway.

At this point I'm just sick. I can't stop worrying about this. Reading some other stories here on VJ and other places hasn't helped either. The worst part about it is that she only said what she did because we were both terrified. They wanted some kind of explanation of why she had the marijuana and after being in secondary for 4 hours, separated, basically strip searched, and interrogated, she just wanted to go home.

How could she possibly even comprehend what ramifications that might have for us now? How would either of us know such a thing? How can we even begin to explain any of this to the IO if it's brought up (which I KNOW it will be) during our interview.

So far we've been honest about everything. We've given them full disclosure. I just can't see how we are going to get through this.

I've been through a divorce already once and it was one of the hardest things I've ever done in my life. I don't want to go through this again. If we end up apart, I can't see how to make things right. We love each other dearly and I WANT to spend the rest of my life with her, but can I really throw everything I have away here in the US to be with her? I can't see any other way if she gets denied. I'm so anxious about all of this. I can barely function at work and my mind is racing. It's only been two days! :help:

Sigh, all this because of one simple piece of paper that she HAD to write that on. If only we could turn back time...

Thank you so much for the kind words and voice of reason. I'm just having so much trouble with all of this. I hate to let my wife know because I need to be strong for her through all of this. If worse comes to worse, and I have to, I will move to Canada because I won't lose her. She's an amazing person and the best thing that's ever happened to me.

Also if it was that serious, they would send her back to Canada or even send her to jail, but none of that happen so just be positive throughout the whole process...

I know the feeling of bieng anxious, but in the end worry won't by you any extra time.. In our minds we always have a plan on how we want our lives to be. But we are never , ever fully in control are we? If you have been blessed with a satisfying life here why wouldn't the creator bless you in Canada also?? So as the saying goes.. why worry if your going to pray.. It will all unfold how it should.. be strong, we have no other choice, do we?

Peace ,

You are right Chi. This whole thing is just so nerve wracking. I was fine until we actually sent in the paperwork. Now all I do is worry all day.

Oh goodie, I look forward to it...

By the end of this process I'm sure we with both have a little more grey hair. I'm just praying everything goes well. My wife really misses her family and friends back home so it will be great when/if she can travel freely again. Just waiting for that NOA1 right now.

Thank you both so much for the kind and encouraging words. I'm starting to calm down a little bit about it now. Had a talk with my wife about it and let her know how I was feeling. Sometimes I try to hold in my emotions and that only makes things worse in the end. I just feel like I'm the man, I should be the strong one. However, she's seen me at my worst and so I know she isn't going anywhere and it's nothing she hasn't seen before.

Xanax, funny user name. I have GAD myself and so I'm familiar with the whole medication thing. On Zoloft right now though and doing pretty well. Just stress about things like this now, as I probably should to a certain extent.

Indeed...I very much doubt it will be a big issue. Relax...breathe in....breathe out.

Inadmissible is inadmissible. It applies for non-immigrant as well as immigrant admissions. If they admitted her multiple times after that incident then CBP obviously doesn't consider her to be inadmissible. CBP probably has her flagged for secondary inspection because a second incident would make her inadmissible without question. USCIS should allow her to adjust status.

This is true Jim, thank you for helping to rationalize this whole thing. I just gave my wife a huge kiss and told her how much in love with her I am. I can't wait until all this is behind us. No matter what though, we will be together and we will make it through. Thanks to VJ it only strengthens our resolve!
