Hello all,

I was wondering if those that had emailed their congressman would mind posting the email, without the names and private info of course. I'm not one to complain, but seeing a few with noa1 dates after me are getting approved is making me want to do something.

I want to keep with the same general wording so that if and when my congressman calls or emails vsc it will be on par with what others have written. I probably wont write them till the end of next week, but I'm really tired of waiting. I carry it around in my head at work, home and everything I do, which I'm sure the rest of us do to.

Thanks for your time. If no one wants to post, I'll understand.

Rob

Not sure how much help it will be since we never actually sent this letter (our approval came the day after we drafted it - i hope the same happens for you!). But here's what we were thinking of sending:

Dear XXXX

I wrote to you earlier in the year expressing concern at processing times for Fiance Visas at Vermont Service Center. Sadly I can now confirm that it has been 5 full months since I submitted my I-129F Petition for Alien Fiancee, and I have received absolutely no news or updates. This puts us outside the usual processing times for VSC as published online and my fiance and I would be very grateful if you could look into the status of our case - receipt number EACXXXXXXXXX.

We fully expected this process to require patience and understanding, but we are very concerned about the lack of consistent information available to us.

As a life long Massachusetts constituent, I would appreciate any information you could find out for me regarding the processing of K1 visa applications at Vermont Service Center. I am a Medical School student struggling with educational costs and and unable to afford to fly to London (UK) to visit my fiancee*, who is desperate to start our life together in the USA.

Good luck!

* in reality he came and visited anyway :)

I'm just planning ahead. Not sure I will send one. Sitting around with my thumb somewhere isn't productive either.

Yes. Nothing wrong with being proactive. I found out from my Congressman that there is little that can be done before 6 months however. That's when they can start putting the pressure..So it's not really until 180-190 days that they can really start having an effect..We just need to hope VSC gets moving again. This standstill is terrible. There are so many layers to this approval system and they seem to erect obstacles against us when we are "outside" the 5 months. Even now we can't put a service request due to the computer reported processing date.

I wrote a letter, as most congressman require that you sign a form giving them permission to inquire about your file. It's possible this can be faxed, though. I heard back from mine a few days ago, and they said that my file was on someone's desk, and that since they had 30 days to leave it there, to inquire again on July 17th if I hadn't heard anything. My letter was similar to Kitty's.
