HELP!

my wife will have her interview for CR1/IR1 next monday; and we want to cross the border right after she gets; however, we know that her mother will have a knee surgery in a few days. I know that she is supposed to received a sealed package to cross, and then wait about 4 weeks for the actual Card to be sent on the mail;

1)but Can she come back to Mexico to be with her mother during that process?

I'm just worried that she won't get the card on the mail soon enough..

2) at the time of crossing, will she be given a "temporary" card that she can use to travel back and forth?

(I just want her to be able to visit her mom during the time of the surgery and after that she may receive the actual card to go visit)

When your wife crosses into the US using the CR-1 visa, CBP will place an admission stamp on the page next to the visa itself. A combination of the visa and CBP admission stamp acts as a temporary green card until the actual card arrives. The temporary green card is valid for re-admission to the US so she can use it for travel.
