Hi All,

My husband and I are at the NVC stage and are preparing the AOS and the IV packages respectively.

We did not front-load our I-130 petition with proof of relationship beyond what was requested at the time (affidavit from family and marriage certificate).

As we prepare the NVC required documents, would it be advisable to include proof of relationship information at this time, ie., skype chats, emails, photos, etc?

If we send this information with the IV package for example, will it be rejected?

Should we just wait and only bring these documents with us to the interview?

Thanks,

Mbiyemo

Well first off the Front-loading is usually very specific depending on country. What evidence did you actually submit with your petition? These are the reasons most front-load. I know I did.

1. Big age difference

2. Religious difference

3. race difference

4. Visits infrequent

5. Visits not long in duration

These are things that may be red flags that people have to address with some good upfront evidence. If you have some red flags and didn't address it it may or may not be an issue. One thing you have to realize is that petition, your case is what the CO gets in their hands to review before they interview you. So what is that petition telling them. Its not a guarantee whatever documents you bring to the interview will even be looked at or requested.

Also know that yes you can add more evidence to your NVC packet but it will slow you down. How much who knows. But than maybe its better to have a slight delay than a denial.

Personally I would check with your specific countries members and ask about your embassy and what they like to see in a petition. You may get some good tips.

From now on your VJ Member name will be verified. If the name you put on form to be added to spreadsheet comes up not found, you will not be added to the spreadsheet. If you don't have a timeline you will not be added to the spreadsheet.

Please Please put your VJ member name only. Not nicknames or real names whatever your VJ name is. It's below your profile picture!!

Thanks for the informed response. With the I130 we included the marriage certificate, an affidavit from his brother and one from my mother. We don't have other things like a joint bank account, kids, property etc. I think it's pretty typical for people in our situations not to have all of these things. I met him while I was working in his country and I lived in that country for three years. We really don't have any red flags that you mentioned except that he is African and I am American (I do believe that there is some bias there on the part of certain people, but that's for another day). We are the same age, race, religion etc.. Its really a pretty open and shut thing in my eyes, but then again, you never know who is reviewing the dossier. There isn't anyone from my husband's country on VJ so it's a bit difficult to exchange ideas.

Thanks again.

You are welcome. Glad to try and help.

Well with a long time relationship it wouldn't hurt to put together some pictures of you and him with friends and family or you alone with them. Now granted you are blessed not to have to go through Nigeria and the embassy but Africans are looked at i believe extra close. So scrutiny is probably never an open and shut.

May i suggest you request the Admin to move your Topic to the African Sub-Saharan forum so people from the African regions can see this and better answer. Cux really I don't know what really to tell you to send in to NVC if anything at all.

Moved from IR-1/CR-1 Process & Procedures to Africa: Sub-Saharan regional forum; whether or not it may be necessary to send additional information to the NVC depends on where the beneficiary will interview and how much evidence was initially submitted with the petition.
