It comes natural to me and is used all over the UK now but learning the principles of first deciphering the phrase that the one word refers to, and the finding a word to rhythm with the last word is very difficult for Americans

I do understand the concept, and I've heard the "apples and pears" example. It's just sometimes difficult to figure out the "common English phrase" ('cause if Americans hear "apple" then the first we think is "apple pie"... or maybe "apple bottom jeans" - neither of which is the right answer. If we heard "Brahms," the first thing we would think of is probably "Beethoven.")

But it's a lot of fun to try to figure it out.

There is a movement to classify it as a separate language but it's basically illiterate old Norse

I handle my debates on the board - I generally don't whine to the mods about ridiculous things people say about me. I challenge them to back it up with the quotes, which they can't.

I guess I should look at it as VJ's idea of "handicapping" (as in golf) - to try to even out the playing field for those who can't debate very well. So let those who debate poorly flame all they want.

unnatural partitions don't last. It will likely take at least decades, maybe even a century or more, but Ireland will be reunited eventually. Nature will take its course, one way or another.
