Who was in Ireland first? The Brits or the Irish? The only ones to commit ethnic cleansing in Ireland as far as I know were the Brits. Did Ireland invite the Brits to invade their country, commit genocide and then relocate a bunch of Scots into Ulster? If that's how it was then I missed that part in my history book.

This kind of silliness would be moderately annoying if we didn't all know you were just fishing your bait hook.

Raiding, robbing and pillaging was the order of the day in European history. When they (and it could be any number of "theys") weren't burning out each other, they would turn it on themselves.

No really they mean it ! I was talking to a broad yorkshireman in a pub in Yorkshire and he claimed to be Irish like these wannabees on VJ

I started telling him some history which didn't suite him and he started smashing his fist on the counter and getting ready to punch me out

I am, as you have guessed, a pretty impressive physical specimen, and so he could not quite get up the courage while I smiled like Roger Moore in that really annoying supercilious condescending British way that we delight in more than a Texan delights in his bow legs

I started taking the mick and telling him he didn't sound like an Irishman - he sounded like Yorkshire tyke like me

These latch on types are like Elvis impersonators - they really believe they are Irish even though I have more Irish blood than them - and Southern Irish at that (I don't usually admit that)

I examined both of your links. I immediately noticed that both of them are devoid of specific footnotes - one gives a general "list of references" but doesn't have any specifics. This is always a red flag.

Delving deeper into them...

The first article you linked (which you glowingly refer to as "a link from Boston University") is actually a website created by a freshman student studying English Education at BYU, as an example of a lesson plan for 6th, 7th and 8th graders, for her entry-level ED 100 class (seems you didn't look at the "All About Me" page on that site.)

This freshman college student (and non-historian) has included glaring errors of fact. She claims that the Dutch ship carrying slaves landed in Jamestown in 1619. It didn't - it landed in 1625 in what is now New York City (all footnoted in the article I posted.) This was 6 years after English colonists brought slaves with them to Jamestown, and decades after two earlier ships had arrived under Portuguese and Spanish flags to other locations in what is now the U.S.

The second article (which does not include the name of the author or any educational or scholarly organization responsible for it) repeats this erroneous info, and goes on with more non-facts, such as "the first Africans arrived in 1624."

This is directly contradicted not only by the claims in your own first link, but the records cited in the much more extensive and footnoted article I linked and synopsized in my Post #104. Not surprisingly, you immediately said you won't read that post.

It looks like you just Googled for something to try to support your argument and made the mistake of posting the first things that popped up, without bothering to look to see if they are sourced, or even written by reputable historians.
